Tammy Sue (McDaniel) Howell, 66, of Visalia, California, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026, in hospice care in Fresno after a courageous battle with lymphoma. Born on May 5, 1960, in Visalia, California, to Thomas and Retha McDaniel, Tammy was the youngest of three children and spent most of her life in the community she proudly called home. A graduate of Mt. Whitney High School, Tammy and her husband built a life together that took them to Chattanooga, Boston, and San Diego before ultimately returning to Visalia, where she built a life centered on family, friendships, and serving others. Tammy married Charles "Ike" Howell in 1982. Although their marriage later ended, they remained close until Ike's passing in 2013-a reflection of the love and respect they continued to share. Together they raised two daughters, Amra Munsch and Maggie Howell. Tammy devoted more than 35 years of her life to property management after beginning her career as a bookkeeper. During the final 17 years of her career, she managed a senior community, where she became far more than a property manager. She built genuine relationships with her residents, many of whom became cherished friends. She looked forward to retiring in May 2026 on her 66th birthday, but illness prevented her from reaching that well-earned milestone. If there was one role Tammy treasured above all others, it was being "Grandma." Her five grandchildren-Haidyn Munsch, Cross Munsch, Boyer Munsch, Kinsley Brown, and Easton Calhoun-were the center of her world. She embraced every opportunity to spoil them, encourage them, cheer them on, and create memories that will forever be treasured. Watching them grow brought her immeasurable joy. Tammy embraced life wholeheartedly. She loved shopping, tending to her garden, traveling whenever she could, and savoring a good glass of wine with those she loved. Any trip to the beach was her favorite kind of vacation. From the day she received her first pony as a young girl, horses held a special place in her heart and remained one of her lifelong passions. She also shared a special love for her two boxers, Tyson and Rocky, who were cherished members of her family and brought her endless joy. To those who knew her, Tammy's greatest gift wasn't what she did-it was how she made people feel. She had an infectious laugh, a radiant smile, and never met a stranger. Whether talking with a lifelong friend or someone she'd just met, she had a remarkable ability to make people feel seen, welcomed, and valued. She could be gentle and comforting when someone needed encouragement, yet strong and unwavering when it came time to protect the people she loved. Her Christian faith quietly guided her life, shaping the kindness, grace, and hope she shared with others. Tammy was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Retha McDaniel; her husband, Charles "Ike" Howell; her daughter, Maggie Howell; and her sister, Betty Grammer. She is survived by her daughter, Amra Munsch; her grandchildren, Haidyn Munsch, Cross Munsch, Boyer Munsch, Kinsley Brown, and Easton Calhoun; her brother, Frank McDaniel; and many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were forever enriched by knowing her. To her daughter, Tammy was more than a mother-she was a best friend, a confidante, and a steadfast source of unconditional love. She was the first phone call in moments of triumph and the first voice of comfort during life's challenges. She listened without judgment, loved without conditions, and offered advice only when it was asked for. She was her daughter's biggest supporter and fiercest advocate. The adventures they shared, the laughter that filled countless mother-daughter trips, and the unwavering love Tammy gave so freely will forever be cherished and deeply missed. A celebration of Tammy's life will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Visalia Public Cemetery Pavilion. Family and friends are invited to a reception immediately following at 1:00 p.m. at The Bloom, 316 S. Bridge St., Visalia, CA 93291.
