Richard Allen Morse

Richard Allen Morse, a loving father, devoted family man, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on January 8, 1940, in Williams, Arizona, to Everette and Viva Morse, Richard moved with his family to Delano, California, before finally settling in Hanford, California, which he called home for many years. True to his adventurous spirit, Richard joined the United States Navy at 17 with his father's permission he proudly served his country. Following his service, he worked for several years in the oil fields including working on the Alaska pipeline. He then embraced a life on the road, working for many years as a dedicated long-haul truck driver. Above all, Richard was a cowboy through and through; he held a deep love for horses, the western lifestyle, and the freedom of the open range. He was married to Patricia (Nichols) Morse, with whom he had two daughters, Pamela Jean Morse (who preceded him in death) and Debora Kaye Morse. Later in life, Richard married Florence (Marlaina) Lewis of Arizona, and they shared 36 years of marriage. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Everette Sr. and Viva (Burge) Morse; his sisters, Gladys McDaniel (Wade), Violet Nickell (Nolan), and Barbara Glenn (George); and his brothers, Everett Jr. Morse, Bob Morse, and David Morse (Kay of Hanford). He is survived by his wife, Marlaina; daughter, Debbie Robinson; two grandchildren, Henry Allen Ralston (Corey) and Kelly R. Gonzales; and three great-grandchildren, Taylor Gonzales, Tanner Gonzales, and Ashleigh Gonzales; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Throughout his life, Richard carried the values of hard work, kindness, and dedication to family. He will be remembered most for his loving heart, steady presence, and the deep care he showed to those around him. He took great pride in being a father and was a constant source of strength, guidance, and support to his family. His wisdom, humor, and stories will be treasured and passed down through generations. A celebration of Richard's life will be held on March 21st at Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel, located at 127 E. Caldwell Ave, Visalia, CA 93277.
