Richard Chiang, beloved father, husband, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, in Visalia at the age of 83. Born on January 25, 1943, in Taipei, Taiwan, Richard was one of seven brothers raised during a difficult and transformative period in Taiwan's history as the island emerged from the hardships following World War II. From a young age, he understood the importance of perseverance, sacrifice, and family responsibility, helping his parents and supporting his siblings through challenging times. Those early experiences shaped the quiet strength, humility, and determination that defined his life. Before emigrating to the United States, Richard worked as a business developer and bookkeeper in Taiwan, where he built the foundation for the hardworking and dependable life he would continue abroad. After moving to America with his family, Richard embraced every challenge with unwavering commitment and quiet dignity. During his wife Priscilla's long illness, he worked as a butcher at a local supermarket to provide for his young family. Through perseverance and sacrifice, Richard and his family settled in Visalia and built their chosen American dream - a testament to his devotion, courage, and love. Beyond his dedication to family and work, Richard found joy in life's peaceful moments. He enjoyed the quietude of fishing and hiking and cherished time spent taking in the beauty of America's national parks. Whether by the water or surrounded by nature's grandeur, he found peace, reflection, and gratitude in the world around him. Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Priscilla. He is survived by his son, Chris, who witnessed and carries forward his father's values of hard work, humility, and devotion to family. Richard will be remembered for his steady presence, generous heart, and the enduring example he set through a life defined by sacrifice, perseverance, and hope. His journey from Taipei to Visalia reflected the very best of the American dream, and his legacy will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.
