Refugio Guzman Garcia

Refugio Guzman Garcia was born April 22, 1930 in Seguin Texas . Refugio was raised by his parents Jose Urbano and Maria Sebastiana Garcia in San Marcos Texas siblings include Enrique Guzman Garcia, Eusebio Guzman Garcia, Felicitas G Perez, Consuelo Guzman Garcia, Virginia Garcia Zuniga, Dolores Garcia Luna and Jesus Miguel Garcia. Refugio as a young teenager learned how to play the accordion, guitar and learned how to sing. Refugio with his brothers and some cousins would go to local radio stations in Texas to play live over the air waves. The Garcias and close relatives migrated to California in the mid to late forties. Corcoran, Ca. was the city they called home. It was in the mid fifties when Refugio and his brothers Jesus, Enrique and a nephew started a band called Los Hermanos Garcia. The band lasted until the mid sixties, when Los Hermanos Garcia changed their band name to Los Traviesos. Los Traviesos band members were Jesus Garcia, Refugio and Refugios two sons Ricardo and Junior Garcia. Refugio played guitar, bajo sexto also would sing first and second voice, Refugio was an overall great musician. Los Traviesos broke up in the mid to late eighties. Refugio Guzman Garcia is survived by his wife of sixty five years Lupe B. Garcia, children Ricardo ( Ricky) Garcia, Junior Garcia, Marryann G. Valdez and Paul Garcia. Refugio and Lupe Garcia have together thirteen grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren whom he loved and adored very much. Besides playing music Refugio had other passions like growing a vegetable garden, cooking his famous papas, pancakes and his homemade green chilli. He loved to pray and worship and loved reading his bible, Refugio was a faithful christian. On May sixth 2026 while hospitalized at Kaweah Delta Hospital in Visalia Ca, Refugio was called home to be with our Lord and savior . Refugio was a loving husband, dad, grandpa and great grandpa who will be always in our hearts and forever missed. Visitation will be held 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM Monday, June 1st, 2026 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia. Rosary will follow at 6:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial services will be held 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1404 Hanna Ave., Corcoran. Graveside services will be held 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026 at Corcoran District Cemetery, 4170 Waukena Ave, Corcoran. Services have been entrusted to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.
