Oscar Loera

Oscar Loera, 63 years old was born on January 22, 1960 to Refugio Loera in Estacion Cuervos, Mexico. At the age of 3 years old, the family immigrated to Visalia, CA where he attended Mt. Whitney High School. Oscar was a faithful Washington Redskins football fan. He traveled the west coast to Oakland, Los Angeles, San Diego and Seattle, many times wearing his favorite jersey and sporting his team colors maroon and gold. Every Sunday you could find him watching NFL football, especially his beloved Redskins. Everyone who knew him dared not to call him during a game. Oscar was the ultimate definition of a hard worker and possessed a strong work ethic. At a young age, he worked along with his family in the fields throughout the San Joaquin Valley. He worked in agriculture where he learned about irrigation, harvest and many other skills that led to Landscape Management where he worked for 40 years. His attention to detail was evident, as well as his pride and dedication he provided to his customers. Oscar was a loving, genuine, and kind-hearted son, brother, uncle, and friend. Oscar did not know any strangers, he made friends wherever he went. Oscar will always be remembered as enjoying life to the fullest. His generosity, sense of humor, and wit will be missed. His love, laughter, and cherished memories will always be embedded in our hearts. Oscar is survived by his mother, Refugio Loera and his brothers and sisters; Victor, Teri Tanaka (Ray), Eduviges Lopez (Pascual), Rudy, Ana Foy (Eric); 9 nephews & nieces; Michael (Jamie), Sabrina, Kelli Tanaka, Christopher Loera, Andrea Alcantar (Paco), Zachary Lopez and Diego, Lorenzo, and Emilio Foy and extended family and friends. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM, Thursday, August 31st, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 608 N. Church St. Visalia, CA. Celebration of Life Reception will be held 2 PM-6 PM, Friday, September 1st, at Elks Lodge #1298, 3100 W. Main St. Visalia, California.
