Norma Lee Fulvio

Norma Lee Ames Fulvio of Visalia, California, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, faith, and quiet strength. She was born on May 28, 1941, in Joplin, Missouri, to Norman and Edith Ames. During her teenage years, her family grew to include her stepfather, Jim Swall and stepsisters, Sharon and Joy. They became an important and steady presence in her life and in the lives of her siblings. Together, they built the strong sense of family and connection that Norma carried with her throughout her life. Norma graduated from Redwood High School in 1959 and maintained lifelong friendships and deep family ties wherever life took her. For more than 30 years, she made her home in Los Osos, California, where she built a dedicated career in the insurance industry. She was known for her reliability, kindness, and genuine care for others-qualities that touched not only her coworkers and clients, but also the many friends she made along the way. In her later years, Norma returned to Visalia to be closer to family. She spent the last four years of her life at Linwood Meadows, where she formed many cherished friendships and was lovingly cared for by the staff and community who became such an important part of her daily life. Norma found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved cooking-especially preparing Italian meals-and enjoyed entertaining friends during her years at the coast. She also loved playing golf, drawing, and faithfully writing in her daily journal, capturing both ordinary moments and meaningful memories. Norma especially delighted in celebrating her birthday each year, embracing it as a joyful occasion filled with gratitude, reflection, and time spent with those she loved. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, providing strength, comfort, and guidance through every season. She lived her beliefs through quiet acts of compassion, generosity, and steadfast love for family and friends. Norma is survived by her sisters, Janice Newman of Tulare, California, and Joy Dewhirst and her husband Richard of Idaho; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members whose lives she followed with great interest and pride. Though she had no children of her own, she treasured her role as aunt and great-aunt, always eager to hear about family milestones and everyday happenings alike. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather; her brother, Lloyd Ames; her sister, Sharon Shannon; and her brother-in-law, Mike Shannon; and nephew, Scott Shannon. Norma will be remembered for her feisty spirit, unwavering faith, and the love she shared so freely with those around her. She leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Memorial services will be held 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM Saturday, May 9th, 2026 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia.
