Maria Elena Tavarez

Maria Elena Tavarez, 66 of Visalia, California, died on August 12, 2021, in Visalia, California. Maria was born to Guadalupe Jose Zavala and Maria Hilda Serna on April 25, 1955 in Donna, Texas. Maria her twin sister and 5 other siblings grew up in Donna, Texas, till they moved to Sanger where she eventually graduate from Mt. Whitney High School. She was lovingly know by her friends and family as the "human dictionary" using her love of word to write an essay that earned her a trip to the state capitol. She married Marco Antonio Tavarez on Saturday, February 1, 1975, in Sanger, Ca, and together they raised 3 children: Aime, Tony and Gina. She worked as a Medical Records Director for Linwood Gardens Convalescent Hospital as well as various other care facilities for over 22 years. Maria enjoyed gardening and had a very green thumb. She was also a talented seamstress. She adored reading and could get completely lost in her books. When she wasn't reading she enjoyed watching spooky movies on Netflix. She was well known for her hugs and kisses, quick wit and comebacks that were always followed with "I Love You". More than anything she enjoyed spending time with her family especially during the holidays, making tamales together, her famous stuffing. She is survived by her husband Marco Antonio Tavarez; her three children, Aime Fajardo (Johnny), Marco Antonio Tavarez Jr. (Karina), and Virginia Tavarez (Nakota Maynor); four grandchildren, Eliana A Fajardo, Clarissa A. Fajardo, Emily A. Tavarez, and Mia A. Tavarez; as well as her Grand Cat, Prissy and Grand Dogs Hershey and Oscar. Maria will truly be missed by all who loved her. Rosary will be prayed 6pm Thursday, August 19th, 2021 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., with a Catholic Funeral Service to immediately follow. Inurnment will be held 11am Friday, August 20th, 2021 at Visalia District Cemetery, 1300 W Goshen Ave, Visalia. Services have been entrusted to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.
