Jose Alfredo Cortez

Sunrise 6/15/1956 to Sunset 1/12/2026 On Monday, January 12, 2026 Jose Alfredo Cortez Sr. was called home by his Savior and was ushered into the gates of Eternity. Also known to many as Joe, Bob or Bobby, He had an unmeasured amount of love for his family, his grandkids being the joys of his life. Jose found happiness in reading the Word of God, road trips, cheeseburger runs to In-N-Out, or just hanging out watching television. Watching the Raiders play football with his Pepsi and snacks was a weekly occurrence. With Pride, Jose shared his passion for the Word of the Lord and would share with anyone that was eager to hear. He often shared his courageous health journey. Being a transplant patient twice over pressed Jose to lean on the everlasting arms of God and find new strength daily in those he loved and cherished. Regardless of his health issues, Jose remained steadfast and rooted in his Faith. II Timothy 4:7 " I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith". Matthew 25:23 "Well done good and faithful servant". Jose is survived by his daughters Coreena Cortez, Erika Flores, Tiffany Cortez Flores, Guadalupe Cortez; Son-In-Law YalkisTapleras; Grandchildren Gabriel Rangel, Angelica Pruneda, Jeremiah Marquez, Rodolfo Marquez III, Ragina Quintana, Romeo Quintana, Jalene SanMiguel, Alaric Cortez and Lucian Tapleras; Sisters Linda Rubio, Anna Cortez Herrera and Leticia Esqueda; Brothers Adolfo Cortez Jr., Ike Cortez, Abel Esqueda and Pedro Esqueda Jr., along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and church family. He is preceded in passing by his son Jose Cortez Jr.; parents Celestina and Pedro Esqueda Sr and Adolfo Cortez Sr; sisters Yolanda Cortez Matos, Paula Esqueda and Angie Esqueda Arenivaz; and brother Roger Cortez. The Rubio/Cortez family is asking all in attendance to wear Raider attire, for all non-Raider fans, please wear black, grey or silver attire. Viewing will be held 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM Thursday, January 29th, 2026 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia.
