Joe Harold Boswell

Joe Harold Boswell was born on January 4, 1936, and went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 26, 2025. Joe was a beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, son, uncle, and friend. There were two things on earth that brought Joe the most joy: his family and working outside. Throughout his whole life, from the moment he was born in Oklahoma to his last earthly moments, he always put his family first. As one of 9 siblings, he took upon himself to help his parents out however he could-from picking cotton in the fields to enlisting in the U.S. Army at 17 to send money home. Joe was a proud Army veteran, always quick to thank fellow servicemen and pay his respects to fallen soldiers. He worked for Southern California Edison for 35 years before retiring at the age of 55, starting as a meter reader and working his way up the executive chain. Joe married the love of his life, Arvilla, on January 3, 1958. Arvilla always made mention she fell in love with him because of his motorcycle and he was handsome just like Elvis. Their life together was filled with adventure. They moved around quite a few times and built numerous houses, but there was nowhere Joe loved living more than out on the 5 acres. Happiest with dirt under his shoes and tools in his hand, there was nothing Joe couldn't fix. From tractors to sheds, garden beds and chicken coops to mailboxes, new toilets to electrical wiring, he was a true jack of all trades. He was generous with his time and resources, always willing to pull up in his El Camino to lend a hand. Although, he did have a mischievous side, never afraid to thump you on the head or spray you with a hose. Everyone who met Joe Boswell felt seen and appreciated and always walked away smiling. Joe is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Arvilla, parents, siblings, and son Richard. He is survived by his daughter Stacie and son-in-law Ted Walters, grandchildren Lauren and Adam (wife Dana) Walters, great-grandson Ethan, brother, sisters, and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. It brings us peace and joy knowing he is in Heaven with Jesus and his angels, reunited with Arvilla and Richard, waiting to welcome us all. A service will be held at the Nazarene Church in Visalia on Thursday, June 12 at 11am, followed by a lunch reception. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Epilepsy Foundation or the Special Olympics in honor of Joe. "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away."
