Jackie Dare Altermatt

Jackie D. Altermatt, age 77, of Visalia Ca., went home to heaven on January 21, 2021. She passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her husband and children. Jackie was born on May 30, 1943 in Paris Texas to Troy and Virginia Kilgore. At the age of 3, the family moved to California and settled in the Strathmore-Lindsay area, where she attended school, graduating from Strathmore High School in 1961. In February 1963, she married Ronald Altermatt and they established a home in Visalia, Ca. They started a family in 1964, with the birth of their daughter, Lisa. Their family expanded in 1966, with the birth of their son, Darron. As her children grew up and married, she was blessed with four grandchildren, Broghan Altermatt, Cody Gray, Luke Altermatt, and Hunter Michele Gray. In 2019, her first great-grandchild, Carson Gray, was born. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life, and she called them her "little loves." Jackie had a career in banking that spanned 30 years, beginning in 1972 when she went to work at Bank of America. She worked for several local banks during her career, with her final position being Operations Officer at Citizens Business Bank. She always felt that the most important thing she gained from her years in banking, was the loving, close, and lasting friendships she made. Jackie retired in 2003 to spend time enjoying her grandchildren, supporting them in their sports and activities. Jackie had many interests and hobbies. She was an avid softball player in her younger years. She had the soul of an artist, and most of her interests were creative. She loved to draw, paint, and write poetry and she enjoyed sharing these interests with her grandchildren. She brought fun, laughter, and enthusiasm to all she did. She was a beautiful lady, inside and out, who brought love and happiness to her family and those who knew her. We will miss her. We take comfort in knowing that she is with our savior and that we will be together again. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her Husband, Ronald Altermatt; Daughter, Lisa Gray and husband Jake; Son, Darron Altermatt and wife Sherie; Grandchildren, Broghan Altermatt, Cody Gray, Luke Altermatt, Hunter Michele Gray, and Carson Gray; and Sisters, Jan Worthington and Lana Tovar.
