Helen F. Paiz

Helen Fernandez Paiz, 86, passed away on August 25, 2021. Helen was born on May 17, 1935 to Julian and Frances Fernandez. She had 8 brothers and sisters, survived by her brothers; Tony Fernandez, Joe Fernandez, sisters Frances Guajardo, Anita Rodarte, and Angie Sanches. She had numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was married to Miguel Paiz. They moved to Visalia where they purchased their first and only home in 1954. Helen had 3 children. Helen worked at a clothing factory and did a lot of field work. She later got injured and retired and became a housewife. Helen and Miguel Paiz were married 65 years. Helen is survived by her son, Mike Paiz, Jr., daughter Sandy Paiz Chavez, and son-in-law, Robert Chavez. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Veronica Paiz. Helen had 9 grandchildren; Corrina Pesqueira, Dennis Pesqueira, Kassandra Morquecho, Michael Paiz III, Julian Paiz, Joe Nunez, Krystal Nunez, Elizabeth Chavez, and Sylvia Chavez. She is also survived by her 13 great-grandchildren. Helen loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also loved cooking and showing her grandchildren how to cook. Helen loved her plants and gardening. She was proud of her big collection of flowers, as well as her Saints that she collected. She always had a crochet needle and yarn in her hand until she couldn't anymore. She made such beautiful blankets, clothes and booties, pillows, and much more. You name it, she knitted it. Helen had such a huge collection and loved making gifts for everyone. She loved her Mariachi music and she would sing in a beautiful voice. She loved Mexican movies with Antonio Aguilar, Vicente Fernandez, Pedro Infante, etc. She also loved American Idol and John Wayne movies. There will be a Viewing on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 from 4PM-7PM, along with a Rosary at 6PM at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia, CA 93277. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 10:30AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 608 N. Church St., Visalia, CA 93291, followed by a Graveside Service at Visalia District Cemetery, 1300 W. Goshen Ave., Visalia, CA 93291.
