Gerald A Layman

Gerald "Burgie" Arthur Layman of Visalia, 83 years old went home to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ, on Friday, October 15, 2021. Burgie was born on October 8, 1938, in the outskirts of Bakersfield, CA to Annabelle and Hobart Layman, and passed away at home surrounded by family who love and will miss him dearly. He was a born-again Christian and loved to talk about what was instore for him once he left this earth. He was married to Pearl "Joan" Layman of Visalia for 26 years and had been together for 33 years before her untimely passing last year. He began his career at Kawneer in the bay area and transferred to Visalia. Burgie retired from Kawneer after 41 years of dedicated service as a shop supervisor of the wall & window department, as well as, the Brite Vue Department. He was well respected and extremely knowledgeable when it came to manufacturing doors and windows. These doors and windows can be seen all over the world. One he would talk about most was the B of A building in San Francisco. After he retired, he and his wife Joan enjoyed camping in Avila, going on their daily 5-mile walks, and his life passion of working on his copious amount of model cars, trucks, and ships. Burgie loved his family and at times had a tough time showing it, but he was truly proud. Burgie is survived by his children; daughters; Lori Garcia of West Plains, Missouri, Debbi Layman of Napa, California, Shanna Muro (Jamie) of Lompoc, California, Linda Fralick (Brack) of Tulare, California, and son; Danny Layman of Concord, California. He was blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Burgie is preceded in death by his wife Joan and stepson, Larry Hill. Graveside services will be held Saturday, November 13, 2021, from 10:30am-11:30am at Visalia Public Cemetery, 1300 W. Goshen Ave. in Visalia with the reception to immediately follow. No seating will be provided at the cemetery, if needed please bring a chair. In lieu of flowers please donate to Kaweah Health Hospice of Visalia.
