Fructoso Aviles

Fructoso Aviles, 97 of Visalia, California, died at home on August 13, 2021, in Visalia, California. Fructoso was born to Eulogio Aviles and Herlinda Medina on January 21, 1924, in Hacienda de Rincon, Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, Mexico. Fructoso grew up in La Providencia Badillo de Guadalupe, Dolores Hildago, Cuna de la Independencia Nacional, Guanajuato, Mexico. He met Maria Guadalupe Reyes in Texas and they were married on January 20, 1958. Fructoso and Maria lived in Shreveport, Louisiana, before settling in Tulare County, California. Fructoso worked as a migrant and seasonal farm worker for over 70 years, working his way up to become a well-respected jefe. He loved gardening, spending time with his family, and enjoying the company of his friends. In his later years, Fructoso provided school supplies and scholarships for needy Mexican children and contributed donations to the rural churches surrounding his birth home of Dolores Hidalgo. He is survived by his wife Maria Guadalupe Aviles of Visalia, CA; nine children, Ray Aviles of Visalia, CA, Virginia Garcia of Visalia, CA, Josephina Montejano of Visalia, CA, Herlinda Sahagun of Springville, CA, Dolores Mendes of Visalia, CA, Frank Pancho Aviles of Albuquerque, NM, Freddy Aviles of Visalia, CA, Lucy Eidson of Middleton, WI, and Abraham Aviles-Scott of Concord, CA; and his 16 Grandchildren and 24 Great Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Eulogio and Herlinda Aviles and his Maternal Grandmother, Atilana Ortiz, Maternal Grandfather Dario Medina, Paternal Grandmother Maria Gertrudis Escamilla, and Paternal Grandfather Jose Estanislao Aviles. Fructoso will truly be missed by all. Visitation will be held 4-7pm Wednesday, August 18th, 2021, at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia, with the Rosary to be prayed at 6pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9am Thursday, August 19th, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 417 N E St., Exeter with burial to immediately follow at Exeter District Cemetery, 719 E.
