Diosdado Melecio Martinez

Diosdado Martinez passed away peacefully in the arms of his Daughter Jayne Martinez and Wife Remedios Martinez. On Monday March 30, 2026 in Visalia, California. He was 87 years old. was Born on November 8, 1938 to Estanislao Martinez and Concepcion Martinez in Nagbukel, Ilocos Sur Philippines. After completing and graduating from the Philippine Maritime Institute, Nautical School in Nautical Science in Manila he was recruited by the US Military proudly serving for the US Navy. The most notable US ships he served on were the USS Georgetown GTR2 during the stand-off in Cuba and the USS Sanctuary in the Vietnam War. He also served on the USS Hunley and USS Proteus both submarine tenders.? After being Honorably discharged from the Navy, Diosdado pursued a career and got his degree in Electronics. He enjoyed building electronics like his own calculator to his own radio from home. He later retired after 40 plus years in the field of electronics and research. He came to America in dreams to seek God's green earth as his Father envisioned it back in the late 1920's and 1930's when his Father traveled to the US with his siblings and cousin. My Grandfather told my Dad, if he ever got the chance to go to America, take it and so he did back in 1962. Dad was able to have all his siblings also immigrate later to America. Diosdado is survived by his wife Remedios Martinez, their children Agnes Martinez, Wilbur Martinez, Roger Martinez and (Wife) Vanessa Martinez, and Jayne Martinez. 4 Grandchildren Justin Martinez and (Wife) Natalie Martinez, Priscilla Martinez, Alex Martinez, and Naomi Keiko Martinez. 3 Great Grandchildren Dallin Martinez, Nathan Martinez, and Oscar Martinez. ? Dad loved his family so much and life. He was a very resilient, smart, and a religious God fearing man who enjoyed spending time with family and enjoyed past times like fishing, a lover of classical music, travel, and a was a voracious reader who loved to engage and keep up with current events. Diosdado was loved so much and will be truly missed by many, but his memory and life will be remembered by all he had an impact on. His Legacy will live forever through his dear family... Viewing will be held 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday, April 23rd, 2026 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia. Rosary will follow at 6:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial services will be held 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM Friday, April 24th, 2026 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 608 N. Church Street, Visalia. Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, April 24th, 2026 at Visalia District Cemetery, 1300 W Goshen Ave, Visalia. Services have been entrusted to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.
