David Wayne Hanna, Sr.

David Wayne Hanna Sr., 72, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, January 12, 2025. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Evie Hanna, his son David, daughter-in-law Keira, daughter Kimberly, sisters, Brenda and Karen, three grandsons, a granddaughter, and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. David grew up in Salinas, CA, playing football, wrestling and track and field at Salinas High School, and later playing football at Hartnell College. From there he served three years in the United States Army, and was stationed in Germany. Following his discharge from the Army, he worked for over 20 years in the tire industry, working for Firestone in Salinas, CA and Pirelli, in Hanford, CA. He was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed nothing more than cheering for, and watching the Raiders and San Francisco Giants. David also loved youth sports, and coached youth football, softball and little league for numerous years. He also enjoyed playing golf and was always ready to go to the driving range or get in a round of golf. Later in his life, fantasy football became a passion of his and he enjoyed nothing more than playing in his neighborhood fantasy league. David fought a long battle with paralysis, learning to walk and talk again later in life. But like everything in his life, his strength and will led him to quickly walk and talk again after suffering a stroke. He had a great passion for his family, and was fiercely loyal, and once you were his friend or a part of his family, you were that for life. While it became hard for him later in life to see his family members, he always tried his best to be there for his family, going to his grandchildren's sporting events, school assemblies and Christmas concerts. David also enjoyed his weekly neighborhood dinners, which offered him extreme enjoyment and was something he looked forward to every week. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Dixie Hanna, father and mother-in-law Angel and Delia Aguila, brother-in-laws, Thomas Frost and Jerry Aguilar and sister-in-law Delia Chiquette. In keeping with and honoring one of David's final wishes, no formal services will be held. Arrangements have been entrusted to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.
