David Archer

David L. Archer, 73 years old, of Exeter died peacefully at home on March 28, 2017. Born January 10, 1944 to parents Leslie "Swede" and Mary Archer in Visalia, California. A cowboy, husband, father, son and favorite Papa. He was our proud supporter and our captivated audience. Pops was our constant from his haircut to his westerns to his spot at the kitchen counter to his always open ears. Always dependable, we knew right where to go when we had news or needed to talk. Papa was always there, ready to listen and throw in some of his own stories from days as a cowboy. We will always cherish our time with him making fond memories while hunting, fishing, branding, Snaffle Bit Futurities and going on pack trips. Papa introduced us to agriculture and threw us on our first horse. Experiences that will never be forgotten. He believed in his family even more than we believed in ourselves. As we grew up we knew that if we fell, we wouldn't fall further than the stool at his counter propped up with his love and support. David is survived by his loving wife, Judy; daughters, Leslie (Mike) Rivas, Tracey (Jon) Stearns, Stephanie Lusk and Stephanie (Sean) McFarlan and son, James (Leslie) Archer; grandchildren-Brittany (Andy) Wolfe, Heather Rivas; Hannah, Rylie, and Kelsey Stearns; Hayden and Allyson Lusk; Sean Jr., Kaitlyn, and Kyle McFarlan; Jimmy, Lily, and Izzy Archer; great-grandchildren- Baylor and Ainsley Wolfe; brother, Stan (Donna) Archer and sister Judy (Sam) Fuller and nieces Cheri (Steve) Campo, Wendy Fuller, Jessica (Adam) Morrison, and nephew, Shane (Kristin) Archer. He is preceded in death by his parents. He lived his life to the fullest as a cowboy and cattle rancher in Idaho and California. We love you Papa! Graveside service to be held at Visalia Public Cemetery on April 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life Service at Merryman Station 20898 Ave 296. Exeter, California from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Kaweah Delta Hospice, 623 West Willow, Visalia, CA 93291.
