Darlene Fay Douma

Darlene Fay Douma, 68, of Tulare passed away Sunday evening, February 1, 2026, after battling a respiratory disease. She was born October 12, 1957 to Stanley and Mary Jean Vanden Brink in Artesia, CA. She graduated from Ontario Christian High School in 1975. She married Charles Douma just a few months later on August 8th. They were happily married 42 years before Chuck passed in 2017. They raised six sons. Darlene was a NICU nurse for over 25 years after going back to nursing school at 37 years old. This was a very big accomplishment for her and her family was very proud of her. She enjoyed camping, embroidery, gardening, golf, softball, the casino, playing cards with family and friends, and most of all supporting her kids and grandkids at their many sports and activities. She served her community well at her boys school as a long time Ontario Christian Boosters Club member, OC Mothers Club member, she ran OC Men's basketball scoreboard, and supplied sandwiches at their snack shack, which her boys quickly realized they could sell to profit. Darlene was known for having a welcoming door for all her boys' friends. She played bells at First Chino URC with the "Ding-a-Lings" and more recently volunteered at Used Treasures in Tulare. Darlene will be deeply missed by her parents, Stanley and Mary Vanden Brink; her sons and daughters-in-laws, Charles "Chuck" Jr. and Angela, Gregory and Megan, Steven and Adrianna, Jeffrey and Jaclyn, David and Kristy, Donald and Shelley; her 21 grandchildren, Breanna (Dusty), Bryce (Deysi), Anneke (Brenden), Elizabeth (Jared), Mya, Gavin, Taylor, Aliyah, Jack, Eli, Henry, Peyton, Luke, Reese, Chase, Brooke, Grant, Owen, Kate, Ryla, and Jace; great-granddaughter Zyla and two great-grandsons expected soon; sisters Kathy (Rich) Raasch and Nancy (Paul) Beno; siblings-in-law Larry (Janice) Douma, Beverly (Jay) Vander Tuig, Henry (Mary) Douma, and Valerie (Kevin) Struiksma; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck; brothers Stanley Eugene Vanden Brink and Stanley Vanden Brink, Jr.; and her parents-in-law, Henry and Alice Douma. The family is comforted in knowing she is now resting at home with them and our Lord and Savior. The family requests that memorial gifts be given to Pomona Valley Sick Baby Fund, 1798 N. Garey Ave. Pomona, CA 91767. Viewing will be held 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM Sunday, February 8th, 2026 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia.
