Charles Douma

Charles "Chuck" Douma, 63, of Tulare died at home on October 1, 2017 after a long, brave battle with renal cell carcinoma. He was born June 14, 1954 in Artesia, CA to Henry and Alice Douma. He graduated from Ontario Christian School in 1972. He married Darlene Vanden Brink on August 8, 1975. They were married 42 years and raised six sons. Chuck owned his own business, Central Mower Service in Chino, for over 30 years until moving to the Central Valley in 2008 to manage the family dairy. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, softball, golfing, camping, and most of all spending time with his friends and large family. He served his community as cadet counselor and deacon at First Chino United Reformed Church, long-time member of Ontario Christian Boosters Club, as well as volunteer member of the "chain gang" at his sons' many football games. Chuck will be deeply missed by his wife, Darlene Douma of Tulare; sons, Charles "Chuck", Jr. (Angela), Gregory (Megan), Steven (Adrianna), Jeffrey (Jaclyn), David (Kristy), and Donald (Shelley); grandchildren Breanna, Bryce, Anneke, Elizabeth, Mya, Gavin, Taylor, Aliyah, Jack, Eli, Henry, Peyton, Luke, Reese, Chase, Brooke, Grant, Owen, Kate, and Ryla; mother, Alice Douma; siblings, Larry (Janice) Douma, Beverly (Jay) Vander Tuig, Henry (Mary) Douma, and Valerie (Kevin) Struiksma; parents-in-law, Stanley and Mary Vanden Brink; siblings-in-law, Kathy (Richard) Raasch and Nancy (Paul) Beno; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Douma, and brother-in-laws Stanley Eugene Vanden Brink and Stan Vanden Brink, Jr. The family is comforted in knowing that he is now resting at home with them and the Lord. Viewing will be Friday, October 6 from 4:30 to 7:00 PM at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel in Visalia, CA. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 9:30 AM at Tulare Community Church. The family requests that memorial gifts be given to Pomona Valley Sick Baby Fund, 1798 N.
