Barbara Ann Mathews

Barbara Ann Mathews (Williams) entered peace on Friday August 25th at 4:39pm quietly in her sleep, surrounded by family. She was affectionately known by her family and friends as "Bob". She was born in Los Angeles CA on November 10th 1957 to the union of Jimmy Williams and Mary Davenport (Williams) she was the 5th child out of 8 siblings. Father and Mother preceded her in death as well as her sisters Juanita Lee and Gloria Williams. She met the man of her of her dreams...Nathan Mathews and were married on September 26th, 2020. Nathan preceded her in death on December 21, 2021. She leaves to cherish her memories, her sister Ruby Galindo and Ruben her husband of Visalia, CA, brother Jimmy Williams Jr (June) of Visalia, CA, sister Shirley Hillard of Wilmot, Arkansas, Glenda and her husband Anthony Tibbs of Visalia, CA, Edward and his wife Yvette Williams of Ft Worth Texas, Marvin Williams of Corcoran, CA, Troy Ficklin of Los Angeles, CA, Valisha Brown of Arizona, Derrick Williams of Ontario, CA, Veronica Phillips of Arizona, Liz Piles of Lancaster, CA. She also leaves behind her one and only daughter Kimberly and her husband Elliot Florence, two grandsons, Jalon Arnold and Jeremiah Warren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and of course "her" favorite cousin Leroy Lynch that lived with us. Barbara attended school at Utah Elementary, Hollenbeck Jr Hi and Fremont High School in Los Angeles, CA. While living in Los Angeles she attended Greater New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Lewis S White. Barbara later relocated to Visalia, CA to be closer to her family, where she attended Calvary COG in Christ in Lemoore, CA under the leadership of Pastor Oratio Smith. After that she attended Visalia Second Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Frank A Wilson. Then she joined her sister and brother in law at Restoration Church under the leadership of Bishop Hooks. Second Baptist Church was her final Church home before going home. She enjoyed going to Church even when she did not feel well...she was ready to go. She loved to dance at family gatherings and she was always ready to do the "James Brown" at the drop of a hat. She was always the life of the party and loved to be called "The Sweatsuit Queen" she had every color and shoes to match. Viewing will be held 2:30 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday, September 14th, 2023 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM Friday, September 15th, 2023 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel. Services have been entrusted to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.
