Antonia Rodriguez Rios

Antonia Rodriguez Rios January 17, 1927 - October 24, 2018 Woodlake Antonia was born in Harlingen, Texas to Francisca Macias on January 17, 1927. She passed away peacefully at home on October 24, 2018. She met her husband, Manuel Rios, while living in Harlingen. They were married on February 23, 1949. They remained married for over 67 years, separated only after his death. In 1962, They moved their family to California and eventually settled in Woodlake. They built their family home with the self help program, many of their children helping with the build. There they raised their ten children. Antonia went to work for the Woodlake school district as a custodian then becoming an assistant cook until her retirement. After their kids had grown, they went on to become foster parents to over 180 children, some of whom remained in touch with them and are a part of her family. Antonia liked to bake and decorate cakes. She liked to knit and crochet, decorating her own home with the patterns she made. She enjoyed trips up to the mountains and walking on the beach with her husband. Antonia loved Jehovah God and honored him. She was baptized as a Jehovah's Witness on April 11, 1970 in Ventura, CA. Antonia is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Manuel Rios, and her beloved son Gilbert Rios. Antonia is survived by over 180 family members ranging from children to great great-grandchildren, her sister (Maria), her brother (Jorge) and many nieces and nephews. She leaves behind three daughters: Irma (Jose) Sanchez, Araceli (Greg) Morentin, and Cindy Rios. Six sons: Jesse, Manuel, Joel (Evelyn), Ruben (Mary), Rudy (Michelle) and Danny. She also leaves behind her granddaughter Zulema (John) Price whom she lived with for many years. In the last few years of life, Antonia developed Dementia and was greatly cared for by her daughter Cindy. The family will forever be grateful for the care and love she gave Antonia. Antonia will be remembered as the strong Independent woman she was. She will be greatly missed by all but we will always cherish the wonderful memories she gave us. A viewing will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 4-7PM at Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 3PM at Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel. A short viewing will be held from 1-3PM before the service.
