Anne Parlier

ANNE KIRBY PARLIER We are sad to announce the passing of Anne Parlier, 90, of Visalia. She passed peacefully on December 25, 2023, after a long and full life. She was loved by many and will be terribly missed. Anne was born on March 17th, 1933, in Dadeville, Missouri to Donovon & Gladys Kirby. She had 7 siblings; the family moved to Visalia when she was 3 years old. Anne graduated from Visalia Union High School in 1951. Anne met and married the love of her life, Jasper Parlier, in 1950, and together they had 4 children. Anne and Jasper were married just shy of 69 years when Jasper predeceased Anne in 2019. Anne was also preceded in death by her parents, son Roger Parlier, son Larry Parlier, sisters June and Rae, and brothers, Don, Myron, Basil, and Bruce. Anne worked for Tulare County for many years as an account clerk for the Public Works Department and later, in the Tax Collector's office, retiring in 1990, when she became a grandma. She was very active and well known in her community, she served as President of the Associated Business Girls, which helped the blind. She was always part of the PTA and a room mother over the many years her kids were in school. She volunteered at the schools again when her grandchildren went to school. Her hobbies were reading and crocheting, and she also took ceramics classes and made many beautiful pieces. She liked taking the grandkids to ceramics class with her and teaching them to paint ceramics also. In later years, Anne was very involved with the Elk's Club with Jasper; they built numerous strong friendships, and their social calendar was something to marvel at! These friendship bonds went beyond Elk's events, many of them becoming more family than friends. My mom loved to decorate, over the top, for every holiday! Especially for Christmas, every room in the house would be decked out, even the bathrooms! This spread over beyond the house and into her wardrobe. Many of you knew the 'rules of Anne', Feb 1st started all red/pink and white for Valentine's Day. Most important was her birthday month, March, head-to-toe green (not exaggerating) from March 1st through the 17th, even green shoes! December 1st began red and black for Christmas, and of course, all the specific jewelry to match; there's way more but you get the gist. It is a very good thing that she didn't care for the brightly colored hair hues or I just know she would've dyed her hair green in March! Equally as important as the Holidays, if my mom knew your birthdate, it was never overlooked, she always remembered and always wanted it celebrated. Many times, in our nightly calls, she'd rattle off whose birthday it was the next day, or later that week, she always remembered everyone's birthday. Anne is survived by daughter Janet (Mathew) Joslin, daughter-in-law Ruthanne Parlier, son Jeff (Deborah) Parlier, grandchildren Jennifer Joslin , Scott (Tara) Joslin, Holly Joslin, and MaryEllen Parlier, great grandsons Brandon Joslin and Colton Joslin; her brother Joe (Carolyn) Kirby, and many cherished nieces and nephews and very special sisters-in-law. Flowers are welcome; memorial donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the American Cancer Society. Viewing will be held 9:00-11:00AM Monday, January 22nd at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E Caldwell Ave, Visalia. Graveside Memorial services will be held 12:00PM Monday, January 22nd, at Visalia District Cemetery Pavilion, 1300 W Goshen Ave, Visalia. Reception to follow at the Elks Lodge, 3100 W Main St, Visalia. The family invites you to wear red or gold, Anne's favorite colors this time of year.
