Angie E. Cardoza Always a classy lady, our mother Angie E. Cardoza entered eternal life August 20, 2017. She was the fourth of seven children born to Manuel A. Evangelho and Mamie Anna Costa Benivedes Evangelho February 19, 1920. She attended Goshen Elementary School and Visalia High School graduating in 1938. On February 20, 1939 she married Manuel A. Cardoza in a double wedding ceremony with her sister Della to "Chubby" Correia at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Visalia. They lived in Tulare for several years and had two little girls Diana and Jackie. Our father purchased a small farm in Dinuba in 1946. She loved life there. I remember her packing a small lunch in a bag with a jar of Kook Aid and giving it to strangers who knocked at our door because they were hungry. In 1950, we moved to Visalia where their son Gene was born and our Dad had gone into the dairy business with his father and brother. In 1956, we moved near Mooney Grove to accommodate their growing dairy and growing some of their own crops. There youngest son Kenneth was born in 1957. Country life is what our mother knew well. She was always a hard worker and kept her children and homes "squeeky clean." She was a 4-H leader for 10 years teaching sewing, helping plant gardens and washed and clipped my cows for the fairs. She was an accomplished seamstress worked for Kortes, a fabric store and Singer where she did sales and taught sewing. She spent 20 years working for optometrists being their receptionist, assisting and doing book keeping. During these years she served on the Tulare County Grand Jury. Mom had a gift with color and knew how to use it. She became a painter and joined Arts Visalia later in life. Recently, she received her pin for belonging to Catholic Daughters for 60 years. Mom was especially proud of her Portuguese heritage using that language with family, friends and especially our Dad. He preceded her in death in 1970. Her siblings that past are Augie Evangelho, John Evangelho, Della Correira, Anna Ferrero Martella and Danny Evangelho. Surviving are her brother, Manuel Evangelho of Santa Clara; her children, Diana Cardoza of Visalia, Jacqueline Elliott of Ivanhoe, Eugene Cardoza of Visalia, Kenneth Cardoza (Annette) of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii; grandchildren, Angela (Mike) Felsted, Tommy Elliott, Aaron Elliott, Katherine Cardoza, Elysse Cardoza and fianc�e Tyler Chaney, Naomi Cardoza and fianc� Scott Stevens, Courtney Cardoza-Chesnutis (Edward Joseph) Seth Cardoza and great-grandchildren, Audrey and Luke Felsted, Jackson Cardoza, and Shelby, Charlotte and Reid Thomas Elliott. Always a close family, she leaves many nieces and nephews of whom she dearly cared. Thank you to the caregivers at Quail Park Memory Care for your attentiveness, kindness and gentle care. You are Angels in our presence. Special gratitude to Griselda Oliveres, Mom loved you so and to Angela Hinostronza for your constant vigilance, knowledge and understanding which was so needed. You are an amazing young woman. Services will be held Tuesday, August 29, at Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. following with the recitation of the rosary at 6 p.m. On Wednesday, August 30, 2017 where will be a mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m., followed by internment at Visalia District Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a kind donation to Veterans of Foreign Wars, Wounded Warriors, the American Heart Association or your charity of choice.
