Almalinda Vigil

Almalinda Vigil was born in Bakersfield, CA on March 21st, 1978, the first day of Spring that year. Alma is the first born of 3 siblings. Her brothers are Adam Vigil and Thomas Vigil, III. Her parents are Martina Beltran and Thomas Vigil, Jr. Alma began her formal education at Bakersfield City School District. She attended Mt. Vernon Elementary and Noble Elementary Schools where she was an amazingly enthusiastic and precocious student who was identified G.A.T.E by her adoring 2nd grade teacher. In 3rd grade, Almalinda was selected, due to her recognized superior intelligence and talents, and honored to study and play the violin in a unique district-wide group specially taught by the Bakersfield City Schools' District Music Director. By the end of the 3rd grade school year, Almalinda performed in her first formal concert, along with the other "hand-picked" students from each of the District's elementary schools. Her mother would dream that one day Almalinda would be playing her violin in a Mariachi band in college and beyond- that made her mother's heart soar! In the Fall of 1988, Almalinda, at the age of 10, along with her brothers, Adam and Thomas III, and their mother relocated to Visalia. She attended Golden Oak Elementary, Valley Oak Middle School and Golden West High School. During her high school years and as she spread her rebellious and adventurous wings, Alma also attended Strathmore High School, Woodlake High School, Sequoia High School and Visalia Adult School where she began and developed many cherished friendships. Those good, best friends happily became the "sisters" she didn't have. Whenever she talked about what she wanted as her future career she favored becoming a Special Education teacher the most. She would've been an awesome teacher to those extra Special students. On July 28, 1998, Almalinda became a Mother. The sunshine and pride of her life, Alexis, was born. Alma became an admirably doting and generous parent yet held her Daughter to high ethical and moral standards. Alma delighted in being a Mommy to Alexis and later on, her BEST friend and confidant as well as that to Alexis' friends. Alexis was her reason for living-to valiantly battle and endure the obstacles and challenges Alma faced due to a severe auto-immune disease she fought since she was 19 years old. Alexis was the love of Almalinda's Life. Almalinda Vigil is survived by her Devoted Daughter, Alexis; her Protective Mother, Martina; her loyal Brothers and Sisters-in-Law, Adam and Yvonne, Thomas III and Carmela; Niece Maya, Nephew Andrew, her affectionate and rescued puppy girls-Reina, Cleopatra, and Nala, many blood relatives she was never able to meet or know very well and innumerable friends she eternally held dear.
