Shirley Ann Simon Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Shirley Ann Simon, 83 of Visalia, California, fell asleep in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 12, 2022. Shirley was born to James Melvin Tillotson and Corinne Lora Jukes on March 31, 1938 in Randsberg, California. Shirley moved to Visalia in 1944 following the death of her father. Shirley graduated from Mount Whitney High School. She married Arthur (Art) Victor Simon on March 2, 1957 at Grace Lutheran Church in Visalia. They had three children. Arthur Victor Simon Jr, Vicki Ann (Simon) Willis and Andrew Tauer Simon. Shirley and Art would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on March 2nd She worked as a teacher's aide for Goshen Elementary School for over 8 years. She provided a loving home for her husband and children. Shirley was a dedicated member of Grace Lutheran Church. She sang in the choir, volunteered as the church office secretary and was very involved with the local Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) holding many of the leadership positions over many years. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family. She also enjoyed reading and shared that love with her children by taking them on many trips to the public library. She hosted many holiday extended family gatherings where her skills at cooking, baking and canning fresh fruit from Art's numerous fruit trees was on display for all to enjoy. Many happy memories of large family gatherings at the home of Shirley and Art are cherished by all who attended. She is survived by her two sons Art Simon Jr (Samantha) of Visalia, CA and Andrew Simon (Lorene) of Visalia, CA. Seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Shirley will truly be missed by all who knew her. A Memorial service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church 1111 S. Conyer St, Visalia, CA 93277 on Saturday March 12, 2022 at 11 AM. A Reception will follow the service in the church's parish hall. Services have been entrusted to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.
