Saum Leakena Lindstrand Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Leakena Lindstrand passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with kidney disease. Due to war and mass genocide in Cambodia, Leakena's family fled the country to seek safety in a Thailand refugee camp in 1979, where Leakena was born on May 30, 1982. She was the youngest child and the only daughter in the family. Leakena's family petition (maternal grandparents, parents and six children) was granted by the United States. All 10 members of the family arrived in San Diego in January, 1984, where they enjoyed freedom for the very first time. Leakena and her brothers went to school and learned to read and write English from scratch. The family also learned how to adopt the new culture and improve their lives in the new country. Leakena's parents and grandparents were proud to see their 6 children complete their education and lead productive lives in the United States. Leakena graduated from Crawford High School in San Diego in 2000 and was employed in the public service industry until she moved to Visalia, CA in 2015, where she met her husband, Sean Lindstrand. Their son, Sean, was born on January 26, 2016. Sean and Leakena were married on January 14, 2017, in Las Vegas. Leakena was a sweet, caring and giving person who would do anything for her friends and family. Along with friends and family, she was also very passionate about music, tattoos and cooking. Cooking for her loved ones and watching them enjoy her meal gave her extreme happiness. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Sean, and their son, Sean; her five brothers, Sopheap Cheam, Piaa Cheam, Poe Cheam, Sophak Cheam and Saem Cheam and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by aunts and uncles in Cambodia. Leakena was predeceased by her parents and grandparents. Viewing will be held 10 AM - 12 PM Saturday, July 2nd, 2022 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia. Funeral services will be held 12 PM - 1 PM Saturday, July 2nd, 2022 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel. Services have been entrusted to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.
