Saturnino Joseph "Nick" Quiroz passed away March 24, 2022 at his home in Visalia, attended to by daughters Loraine and Maria. He was born November 29, 1925 in Farmersville, California: sixth and final son of Maria Munoz and Bartolo Quiroz. Nick grew up with 9 brothers and sisters. Much hard work was necessary for the family farm, firewood and trucking business; even so Nick always found time for his two youngest sisters, Dolores and Catalina. They all kept entertained with children's games. "Cops and Robbers" was a huge favorite. Money was scarce during the Great Depression; Nick made toys for his little sisters, which they thoroughly enjoyed. Working hard at the family farm on South Giddings, Nick attended George McCann Memorial School and Visalia Union High School, where he played trumpet with the marching band. Nick's patriotism compelled him to volunteer for the US Army during World War II. From February 27, 1944 and served till May 28, 1946 he served as rifleman with the 398th Infantry Regiment in France and Germany. While serving his country Nick was housed with local families in both France and Germany; he enjoyed absorbing their culture learning conversational German. After the war Nick returned home to work at Colpien Feed yard in Tulare with brothers John, Trino, Vic and Pat. He liked his job operating the feed grinder. Nick worked for Colpien's until retirement. On July 26,1950, Nick married the love of his life, Delphina "Della" Baiza at Holy Family Church, Visalia. Their daughter Loraine was born in 1951, son Steven 1957 and daughter Maria in 1961. Nick is remembered as a very kind gentle and loving person. Nick took pleasure in simple things making them special in and of themselves. Family was everything to Nick. He loved hosting family get-togethers, thoroughly enjoyed by all. Besides family Nick enjoyed gardening, which turned into a lawn service which he worked for many years after retirement from Colpien's. An avid Raider's fan, Nick enjoyed watching football weekly. Nick was preceeded in death by brothers Augustin Quiroz, Patrocinio Quiroz, Trinidad Quiroz, John Quiroz, Victoriano Quiroz and sisters Frances Quiroz, infant Maria Quiroz. Sadly, both wife Della and son passed away in the past year; Della on April 2, 2021 and Steven on April 18, 2021. Nick is survived by; sisters Inez Quiroz, Dolores Quiroz and Catalina Quiroz (Daggett); by daughters Loriane DeLosReyes and Maria Quiroz; by grandchildren Angela DeLosReyes-Martinez, Miriam Wallauer, Christian Uriarte-McDowell, Xavier Uriarte; great-grandchildren Maya Reyes Luna, Aiden Delosreyes Martinez, Liam Edward - DeLosReyes Martinez, Leah Wallauer, Lexi Wallauer, Ashton Lerma, Mikhayla Martinez, Nicklas Martinez, and great-great-grandchildren Ava Jade Dover, John Edward Johnson. Viewing will be held 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM Monday, April 18th, 2022 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia. Catholic Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, April 18th, 2022 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia. Graveside services will be held 12:00 PM Monday, April 18th, 2022 at Visalia District Cemetery, 1300 W Goshen Ave, Visalia. Services have been entrusted to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.
