Robert Lee Pitman

Robert Lee Pitman (Bob) was called home to be with the Lord February 24, 2023 in Visalia, California at the age of 90. He was born January 1, 1933 in Morrisville, Missouri to William Lesley and Delpha Pitman. At the age of 1, the family moved to the Tulare County area. In 1950 he met his future wife Bette Darlene Irwin and married her on September 28, 1952. They had recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Together they had two daughters, Nancy Donald (William) and Suzanne Jolliff (Richard), 6 grandchildren Rob Donald (Alisha), Ryan Donald (Lauren) and Riley Rivera (Ryan), Megan Jolliff, Lindsay Murad (Solomon), and Allison Campbell (Oliver) who were all very special to him and often "partners in crime" with them. He also had 9 great-grandchildren who he treasured greatly Brody Donald, Brynn Donald, Haylee Donald, Kinley Rivera, Ryan Rivera, Jr., Haylynn Rivera, Charlotte Oomps, Blake Murad, and Maggie Murad. Also surviving him is his sister Barbara James and several nieces and nephews. February 1953 Bob was called into service in the army and served in the Korean Conflict until 1955. After the service he was employed by Southern California Gas Company from 1955-1993 where he retired from the planning department. During his time at the Gas Company, he served as reporter for the Gas Company Newsletter, board member of the Southern California Gas Credit Union and area chairman of Local Union 132. He was also a charter member of the Gas Company RV Club and member of the Rod n Gun Club. Bob was a former member of the Ivanhoe Presbyterian Church, where he served as a trustee and was involved in the youth activities. From 1960-1980 he also owned and operated Pitman's Lawnmower Sales and Repair. Bob enjoyed deep sea fishing off the central coast in his boat the Dopijo. He loved being outdoors and spent many hours tending his garden. Together Bob and Bette enjoyed traveling, especially in their motorhome and considered Florence, Oregon as their second home. There will be no formal services at Bob's request. Family will have a celebration of life at a later time. Services have been entrusted to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.
