Ricardo Serna

April 17, 1961 - November 20, 2021

Maria Trinidad "Trina" Serna, 65 of Visalia, California, died on November 12, 2021, in Visalia, California. Shortly thereafter she was followed in death by her husband Ricardo "Richie" Serna, 60, on November 20, 2021. Trina and Ricardo married July 30, 1988 and together they raised their two children, Ricardo Jr. and Suzzanna. They were preceded in death by their first daughter, Gabriela G. Serna. Trina was an incredible cook. She enjoyed taking care of her home, and entertaining her friends and family. Everyone was always welcomed into her home with a warm hug and a smile. She liked spending her evenings gardening or taking walks with her granddaughter Selina, and getting to know her neighbors. Helping others was something she filled her days with, she truly dedicated her life to serving her family. Richie served as a correctional officer for 22 years. He also served for the United States Air Force as an Aerospace Control & Warning Systems Operator for 4 years. After retirement he continued working as a security officer at several hospitals. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, gardening and taking care of his pool. He loved watching sports, and rooting for his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys. Playing with his granddaughter, Selina always put a smile on his face. He was loved by his co-workers and everyone who got to enjoy his warm and friendly personality. Together they are survived by their two children, Ricardo Serna Jr. (Eliana Ramos) and Suzzanna Gabriela Serna; granddaughter Selina Serna; Ricardo's mother, Angelina Madrid and Trina's parents, Cayetano & Matilde Gallardo; their siblings, Antonio Gallardo (Sarah), Olivia Gallardo, Alfredo Gallardo (Rosa Nieto), Hildalisa Gallardo Ammann, Irene Reynoso (Angel), Cruz Gallardo, Ramon Gallardo (Esperanza Nunez), Isaias Serna, Jr., Sonia Rios-Holland, Albert Rios, Raymond Rios, Anthony Rios, Gilbert Rios, Corinne Rios, Patricia Rios-Lopez, MaryAnn Rodriguez, Michael Rios, Richard Rios, Roy Rios, and Norma Rios; as well as numerous, nieces, nephews and cousins. Richie is preceded in death by his father, Isaias Serna and step-father Arnold Rios; and two siblings, JoAnn Rios and Robert Rios. Trina and Ricardo will be truly missed by all who loved them. Viewing will be held 4-7pm Sunday, December 5th, 2021 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia, with the Rosary to be prayed at 6pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30am Monday, December 6th, 2021 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 608 N. Church Street, Visalia where military honors for Ricardo will be presented. A committal service for Trina will immediately follow at Visalia District Cemetery, 1300 W Goshen Ave, Visalia. Services have been entrusted to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.
