Raymond Mejia 92, left his earthly home Monday September 13, 2021 and entered eternal life with his Lord and Savior. Raymond was born April 26, 1929 in Visalia, Ca. to Hilario and Magdalena Mejia. Raymond went to school in Orange Cove & Yettem area. At the age of 15 he accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized in the Apostolic Church in Cutler, Ca. At age 16 his parents settled in Woodlake where he worked in farm labor with his parents. Raymond and his brothers helped build the family home along with their father. In 1952 he was drafted to the United States Army he was stationed at Camp Hanford, Washington. After his military service, he returned home to Woodlake and met and married Ramona Zavala of Azusa, Ca. on July 9, 1958, and had 5 children. Raymond was employed with Calvilion Growers for many years and retired due to an injury. Raymond was very proud of his military service. One year Raymond and his wife Ramona drove up to Washington to visit where he had been stationed. He was a member of The American Legion. He also supported Paralyzed Veterans of America, and also supported the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. Raymond enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren camping, barbecuing, and many beach trips, as he loved the ocean. His love for vintage classic vehicles kept him busy at car shows with family, but his passion was landscaping. He could make any yard look spectacular. His best time was cruising in his truck to Woodlake to visit his family. Raymond had a great love for his family and will forever be remembered as caring, generous and a man of integrity. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, his son, Raymond Jr. and siblings Manuel (Eddie), Frank, Alfred, Mary Louise Mejia, and Elizabeth Rodriguez. Raymond is survived by his loving wife Ramona of 63 years. Daughters Dianna Avalos (Joseph), Louanna Haro (Louie), sons Jeffrey Mejia (Angel) and Gavin Mejia (Joann). He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, as well as numerous nieces and nephews that meant so much to him. Revelations 21:7 "He who overcomes shall inherit all things, I will be his God and he shall be My son." Visitation will be Monday, September 27, 2021 from 4PM-7PM at Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia, CA 93277. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10am Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Praise Center Church, 503 N. Floral St., Visalia Ca 93291, followed by burial at Visalia District Cemetery.
