Norman Ferriera Gaio

August 31, 1936 - December 25, 2021

Norman F. Gaio resided in Tulare, CA. He was a former resident of Newark, CA. He was born at home on the 31st of August 1936 in New Bedford, Massachusetts. He was the third child of six children, born to his parents Mary and Jose Gaio. In 1950 the family moved from New Bedford to Hayward California where Norm attended San Lorenzo High School and graduated in 1955. After graduation he worked at both Englander Mattress Company and Sleep Air Mattress Company in San Leandro California. He soon met his wife Carol Furtado of Hayward and the two married in March 1959 and had three children. In 1964 the family moved to Newark California and bought a brand new home where they settled and raised their family. Norm secured employment with the City of Newark and remained employed there for the next 10 years. Following that he went to work for his brother Joe Gaio, at Guthmiller Trucking in Union City California. At one point he and his brother in law Bob opened Hack's Auto Body repair shop in Union City California. In 2004 Norm retired and moved to Tulare California. While living in Tulare he met his girlfriend Earlene Gresham. The two enjoyed the last 13 years together as best friends before his passing. During his life, Norm was the proud owner of a 49 Mercury show car which won him several awards at car shows. He loved attending the Hot August Nights car show in Reno Nevada and many other car shows. He loved to collect vintage stuff from the 50's. Norm had a life long friend John Valin, who he knew for 70 years. They spoke frequently with one another about their cars and life back in the 50's. Norm leaves behind three children, Lori (Gaio) Chevalier, Eric Gaio & Jeffrey Gaio and four grandchildren, Devin Chevalier, Olivia Chevalier, Alexis Gaio and Audrey Gaio. Norm's surviving siblings are Joe, Esther (Griffin), Gaddie, Abel and Nancy (Hackbarth). Norm will surely be missed by all who knew him and loved him. Services will be held on Monday, Jan 24, 2022 and he will be laid to rest at the North Tulare Public Cemetery.
