Margaret Rose Mancebo Costa DeMello Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Margaret Rose Mancebo Costa DeMello 93 passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2020. Her burial took place at the Visalia Cemetery on Friday, April 17, 2020. A memorial mass is planned for Margaret at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 10:30 am. Margaret was born on December 27, 1926 in Visalia, CA to Antonio Mancebo and Alexandria Perry. She was a farmer's daughter who lived in Tulare County most of her life. In 1943 she graduated from Exeter High School and later married Pete Costa. Eventually Margaret and Pete settled in a home at Visalia on Avenue 328 where she resided for over 60 years. Margaret was a faithful employee who worked for Cross Horlock Hardware nearly 20 years before attending beauty school. After becoming a beautician, Margaret owned Margaret's Country Curl and enjoyed her life's work for 40 plus years. Margaret's passion was caring and loving others as a wife, daughter, sister, aunt, Godmother and friend. She dedicated her time and energy serving others through membership of Catholic and Portuguese organizations: PFSA (UPPEC), LUSO/SPRSI, St.Anthony, Cabrillo Club, Altar Rosary Society, PPAV Hall, Visalia Celebration (crown room committee). Margaret is preceded in death by her parents Antonio and Alexandria Mancebo, husband Tony Pete Costa, brothers Tony and Ernie Mancebo, sisters Doris Mancebo and Eleanor Freitas. She is survived by her husband Bill DeMello and his family. Other survivors are sisters Mary Barcellos, Kathryn Sauber (John), Sandra Martzen (Ernie), sister in laws Hilda and Reba Mancebo, including Godchildren, Sharon Barretto, Linda Laich, Marlene Lasley, Larry Gill, Daniel Joseph Perry, Anthony Freitas and John D. Sauber Jr. She also leaves behind countless nieces and nephews whom she truly adored.
