In loving memory of Joe Alonzo, a cherished father, son, brother, grandfather (Papa Joe), and friend, who departed from us on May 11, 2024, at the age of 69. Joe's vibrant spirit thrived through the warmth of his family and the embrace of his friends, enriching the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him. With the loving support of his caring sisters, family, friends, and caregivers. Joe found strength to truly enjoy the precious moments of his final months. Born on May 3, 1955, in Huntington Park, California, Joe attended Eastmont Junior High in Montebello, California, and graduated from Redwood High School in Visalia. Among his proudest achievements was earning his degree from Napa Valley College, fulfilling his dream of becoming a Registered Nurse. Affectionately known as 'JoeNurse', he was celebrated for his infectious smile, and unwavering commitment to those he cared for. Joe's legacy of generosity and empathy touched countless lives during his 35-year career in the medical field. Above all, Joe found immeasurable joy and fulfillment in the company of his family. His heart overflowed with pride and love as he embraced the roles of parent, grandfather, and great-grandfather. The times he shared with his loved ones were his greatest treasure, and he lived each day with boundless love and gratitude. Joe had a remarkable gift for making friends wherever he went, and his bond with his Native American friends held a special place in his heart. Whether creating new memories with his family or drawing strength from the love of his daughter, mother, sisters, and brothers, Joe embraced life with a spirit of joy and adventure. He enjoyed traveling the world, attending baseball games, concerts, and music festivals, he always had a sense of wonder and curiosity. Spontaneous road trips and making new memories without looking back is exactly how he lived to the very end. Joe is survived by daughter Monica Chavez and husband Mark Chavez, three grandchildren, Marissa Chavez, Jazzmin Cote and husband Atlee Cote, Anesa Perez and husband Francisco Perez, Great-granddaughters Emma Cote, Charlee Cote, and great-grandson Quincy Cote. He is also survived by his mother Mary Beatrice Alonzo, sisters Ramona Alonzo, Nora Gonzales, Cleta Alonzo, and brothers Eddie Alonzo, Ray Gonzalez, and his brother in Christ, Lawrence(Jr.) Ramirez, along with nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joe was preceded in death by his father Jose Alonzo, sister Rita Jones, and brother Roy Alonzo. His memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him. Rest peacefully, Joe. Your legacy of love and kindness will endure in the hearts of all who were touched by your warmth and smile.
