Homer T. Go
March 6, 1950 - February 9, 2021
Homer Go, age 70, of Visalia, CA, passed away on February 9, 2021 due to complications of COVID. Born on March 6, 1950 in Cebu City, Philippines. Clearly aware of his eccentricity, Homer Go once said "If I pass away, I would miss myself." In some ways he was a contradiction: outwardly matter-of-fact and reserved, but deep down he was surprisingly passionate and tender. The life of the party, whether he was out and about or just being a homebody. A dreamer, with high aspirations for his children: he inspired them to pursue their dreams, by saying things like "the sky's the limit!" Yet, he also prepared them for different outcomes with methodical thinking and a realist attitude. Homer Go had a very diverse background. He worked as a chicken and pig farmer, construction foreman, rice grower, a water well drilling contractor - who made water access possible to rural communities in Tacloban City. In the mid-1970s, he got into business ventures such as selling medical equipment, to pay his way through Cebu Institute of Medicine, which he was particularly proud of. A true humanitarian, Dr. Go dedicated much of his spare time to delivering the babies of those in need and, along with his first wife, the now deceased Virginia Go, adopted a young girl named Joy - and helped her live with dignity until losing her battle with leukemia at age six. With seven kids at the dinner table, Homer always managed to bring the family together through meaningful conversations, often about spirituality, that eventually took on a journey through three religions. An appreciation for Judaism, and with it, a whole new outlook on life, was one of greatest discoveries that Homer shared with his loved ones, second only to providing to his children a loving and ever-so-patient second mother, Lourdes Go. Ever present and ever-loving, he gave his all until the very end and knew how valuable time with loved ones really was. Despite all his incredible accomplishments in business and medicine, it was obvious that what made him happiest was being a husband, a dad, and a grandpa. Graveside services will be held on Friday 2/19/21 at 9:00am at Visalia District Cemetery.
