Gonzalo Villa

Gonzalo Nunez Villa, 88, of Visalia CA, went home to be with our Lord on Saturday October 29, 2016. He died in peace after his wife of 67 years passed on October 2, 2016. Gonzalo was born to Felix and Juana Villa, of Vado New Mexico on January 10, 1928. Gonzalo married Nellie Holguin on February 5th, 1949; they were married 67 years. Gonzalo was one of 5 children, and also had 5 half siblings when his father remarried after his mother had passed away. He faithfully helped raise his younger siblings. In 1949 he married his wife Nellie, they moved to Culver City where he worked for Douglas Aircraft. After the last of their four children were born, they moved back to Visalia to continue raising their family. Gonzalo then worked in road construction and retired in 1988 from the WM Lyles Construction Co. He continued to be an active member in the Labors Union until his passing. After retirement, Gonzalo focused on spending time with his grandchildren and later great grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, gardening (especially chili peppers) and going to the casino with his wife. Gonzalo is survived by his son Ernest Villa (Gail), daughters Patricia Arredondo Villa, and Sally Villa Suhovy (Norman). His legacy includes 8 grandchildren: Matthew Villa, Angela Villa Struiksma, Michelle Arredondo-Ruiz, John Arredondo, Amy Villa Nelson, Robert Suhovy, Valerie Suhovy Bergdorf, and Audrey Suhovy; along with 14 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Teresa Villa Curiel of Tulare, Mikie Macias Medina of Merced, Fannie Macias Cardenas of Modesto and brothers Jose Villa of San Jose, and Albert Macias of Turlock. Gonzalo is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nellie, two brothers; Eugene Villa, and Willie Villa and half brother’s Frank Macias and Paul Macias, half sister Candy Macias and by his loving son John G. Villa, U.S.M.C. in 1976. The funeral service will be held at 10am on Thursday November 10th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. A viewing will be held Wednesday November 9th for family from 3-4pm and the public from 4-7pm at Salser and Dillard. Burial will follow the funeral at Visalia Cemetery. Funeral arrangements made by Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave, Visalia, CA 93277. Visitation will be held at 4 PM till 7 PM on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Visalia. Interment to follow at Visalia District Cemetery.
