Gerald Eugene Wheaton

October 8, 1932 - April 28, 2021

Gerald Eugene Wheaton (Jerry) was born in Tulare, CA on 10/08/32 to Roy Wheaton and Grace Simpson. He went to sleep at home with family around him on 4/28/21 at the great age of 88. One of his favorite statements was "the Golden Age is not for sissies". He lived in Visalia all his life and attended Visalia schools. He graduated in 1950 from Visalia Union School (Redwood now) then on to C.O.S. to study mostly all about building trades. He loved the outdoors. Finishing C.O.S. he was called to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Returning from the military he worked at Lucky Auto Supply and then with an Electric Supply CO. Interested in electricity he became an apprentice and then a journeyman and was then able to take his state boards and go into business with his eldest son, Mike at J & M Electric. It later changed to Venice Hill Electric when Mike went to work for Visalia Unified Schools, as Jerry was planning to retire. Jerry was very active in his church. He had a big part in the construction. He was also an elder, head deacon and pathfinder leader for boys and girls. He also enjoyed going on church mission trips to help build churches and schools. He is survived by his wife, Stella (married 65 years). And his 3 sons, Mike Wheaton (Jeri), Jeff Wheaton (Celia), and Ron Wheaton (Rhonda). He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Joseph Wheaton, Jordan Wheaton, and Daniel Wheaton. They were such a joy and blessing to him. He also felt very blessed to have such wonderful daughter-in-laws, and longed to see them again. Jerry always had a quick wit, a friendly smile, and a strong handshake. He had a very generous spirit, always helping others in need. He loved animals and birds. In lieu of flowers, Jerry would like Critter Creek, a wild life refuge who help injured or abandoned wild life, to be remembered. www.crittercreek.org 559-338-2415 Private Interment will be held at San Joaquin National Cemetery with Military Honors.
