After a long battle with Dementia, loving Husband and Father, Donald A. Hill Jr. went home to Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on June 1st, 2021. He was 82 years old. Born at Holy Name hospital in Teaneck , N.J. to Jane F. Hill and Donald A. Hill Sr., he graduated from Holy Trinity HS in Hackensack N.J. As a young man, he pursued a calling to the Priesthood and attended seminary . Don eventually joined the United States Army and as a Military Policeman worked for their Underground Nuclear Research facility. In the summer of 1960 Don met Mary T. Harvey and They were married in November of 1961 and celebrated 59 years together. Previously employed with the Bendix Corp., in NJ. Don and Mary moved their family to Visalia in 1973. Don enrolled at the College of Sequoia's Nursing program and became employed by KDDH as one of the first male nurses at that time. He lovingly served and nursed those there for 18 years. Dad always engaged in philosophy , science, art , theology and mathematics. Fascinated by the first moon landing to the lives of the Great Saints, dad's interest were many. Since childhood, he was an avid fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers. Moving to California, he was an instant LA Dodger fan. Dad enjoyed photography, collecting literature form Nat Geo to antique books. He was a big fan of Pope JP 11 and had a devout love for Our Lady and her most Holy Rosary . He shared that love with those closest to him and enjoyed serving as a CCD teacher for St. Marys. Dad enjoyed the early Sci Fi movies from his childhood of the 1950's and often played them for his family and made many family movies as well . Dad was a great cook, making up recipes and was known for his famous cheesecake ( award winning ) and Original Giant chocolate chip cookie way before it was popular. A talented artist dad worked with charcoal , ink and pencil and created designs for local business. He enjoyed road trips and vacations in Morro Bay and baby-sitting all his grandkids , even last minute ! He loved each one of them dearly. In retirement he also served Linwood Meadows and as a Eucharistic minister at St. Mary's Visalia. Dad lovingly served his family and friends, following the rule to " love thy Neighbor " to the fullest. Brilliant , creative, kind , humble and loving , your warm persona, wit and gentle touch in all our lives will be greatly missed. We love you ! You are Forever in our Hearts .
