Carmen Jim Laro

March 11, 1938 - March 25, 2021

Carmen Jim Laro Carmen passed away on March 25, 2021 in his home, peacefully, surrounded by family at the age of 83 years old. Carmen was born in Cleveland, Ohio and was raised in the San Fernando Valley where he had a Moving and Storage business with his father. In 1961, Carmen and his childhood sweetheart, moved to Tulare County. Carmen fell in love with the rich farmland and established Laro's Fruit Stand in 1965, where he and his wife raised 5 children on the farm. The business is still in operation by his son and family in Visalia to this day. Carmen loved going for drives to the mountains. On one of his many excursions to the foothills he discovered Badger, California. In 1983 he and his wife moved there and built a home and established Sierra Lakes Campground, an overnight fishing and tent camping resort. This was a place people traveled miles to relax and feel at home. He also formed a joint venture, 3 C Bar Cattle with his wife Carrol and their son Carmen. He had a unique way of loving his family, an immensely proud father, Nanu and Great Nanu, who lived for the Good Times. It was traditional to have family spaghetti every Sunday, fish frys on Tuesdays and family pizza nights on Fridays. Every family member and friend knew they had a place at the table, where to go for great food and family entertainment. He is survived by his wife Carrol, of 66 years who never left his side; his three children Nina Lamothe (Paul), Carmen Laro II (Monica), and Mary Kimbrell (Mike); daughter-in-law Dawnie, Adelia Laro; 11 grandchildren Nicholas Laro, Ross Laro, Benjamin Laro, Joseph Laro, Charlie Smith, Ashlie Cairns, Samantha Laro, Megan Laro, Carmen Laro III, Michael Kimbrell, Matthew Kimbrell, and numerous great grandchildren.
