Billie Hanshew Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Born August 6th, 1956, to Max and Elaine Livingston in Atwater, California. Billie graduated from Wasco High School in 1974, and she met her husband, Johnny Dean Hanshew. They worked together at The Chicken Shack, at the Buttonwillow truck stop. Billie and Johnny married in July of 1975 in Buttonwillow, California. In 1976 their first son Johnny was born. In 1980 their second son Jason was born. In 1987 the family moved to Lompoc, California, where Billie worked at Vandenberg Airforce Base as a supervisor at the commissary. She worked there for several years while continuing to raise her two sons and, of course, her husband while also becoming a mother-like figure for her son's friends. She was a great cook and baker. Her loved ones never went without a meal or dessert. She was well known for her cakes, pies, and other desserts. In 1999, after the boys graduated high school, Billie and John moved to Bakersfield, California. She worked for hospitals for a couple of years before helping raise her Goddaughter Mattie. Around 2002, new arrivals came to Billie's family. First, Jason met his wife, Tracie. Along came Morgan, then in 2004, Tatum was born. In 2006, Seth was born. In 2008, Johnny's first daughter, Chloe, arrived. In 2010 a second, Corinne, was born. Johnny met his wife, Jessica, in 2015. Billie truly cherished being a grandmother and was always in her happy place when the little ones were around. In mid of 2017, Billie's husband, John, retired. Billie held John to his promise to travel around the U.S. and hang out with family and relatives. In early 2020 Billie started to have an illness, and on May 13th, she passed away in Henderson, Nevada. She is survived by her husband John, sons Johnny and Jason, granddaughters Morgan, Tatum, Chloe, Corinne, grandson Seth, and goddaughter Mattie. She also is survived by her brother Joe and sister Vickie. Billie always made sure she was right with God. She is now at peace and will be watching over us. Visitation will be held 9-11am Wednesday, June 1st, 2022 at Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 East Caldwell Ave, Visalia. Graveside services will be held 12pm Wednesday, June 1st, 2022 at Visalia District Cemetery, 1300 W. Goshen Ave., Visalia. Services have been entrusted to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.
