Anthony Bill Carmen

November 21, 1946 - June 7, 2021

Anthony (Tony) Carmen left us peacefully on June 6, 2021 in the great outdoors that he loved. Born November 21, 1946 in Hanford, California to recent immigrant parents from Switzerland and Germany, Tony attended Visalia schools, graduating from Redwood High School in 1964. He served in the US Navy and attended COS before working at Diamond International Paper Company and eventually retiring from Sun Pacific Farming. He married Janie Light in 1967 and together they shared their love of camping, hunting, fishing and exploring with their two children, Sheri and Brad. These same passions would be shared later on with grandchildren. Megan, Mackenzie, Christina, Jacob and Emily each have some unique bit of knowledge or skill that can be credited to Grandpa Tony/Papa. Playing cards, Poker in particular, was a talent he honed and shared, to the delight of his grandchildren. He loved all things collectible, particularly coins and antiques, and was particularly proud of his lunch-boxes, which included some of the most rare and perfectly preserved western-themed lunch-boxes from the 1950s. Tony was preceded in death and met in heaven by his wife, Janie, as well as his parents Antone and Helen, and sister Laurie. He is survived by his children, Sheri Adame of Visalia, and Brad Carmen (Heidi) of Exeter; grandchildren Megan Adame, Christina Adame, Emily Adame, Mackenzie Carmen, and Jacob Carmen; Brothers Gary and Bob Wright, Mother-in-Law Lois Light, Brothers-in-Law Stan Dilbeck and Norman Light, and Sisters-In-Law Susie Dilbeck and Mary Jo Light, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family. His absence will be profound, especially on holidays, which he always found ways to make uniquely special. Graveside services will be held 10am Tuesday, June 15th, 2021 at North Tulare Cemetery, 4572 J. St., Tulare. Services have been entrusted to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.
