Amalia Adlao Flisco
January 18, 1961 - February 14, 2021
Obituary for Amalia Adlao Flisco There is a saying that "Good people are like candles. They burn themselves up to give others light". Amalia was like a candle. A strong and bright candle. A candle that put forth a loving light to all those she touched and shined upon. Amalia was a kind, selfless, and giving person. She devoted her entire life to her family and to helping others. Amalia Adlao Flisco was born in Olongapo City, Philippines on January 18, 1961. She was the loving daughter of Romeo Adlao, Sr. and Conchita Adlao, and caring sister to her siblings. While growing up in the Philippines, Amalia had many fond memories of her childhood. Memories of her school days at Saint Joseph's, caring for and playing with her siblings, and spending time with family and friends. Amalia later met and married her husband, Venancio Flisco. Together, they raised three children: Beverly, Melograce, and Johrell. Amalia was a devoted wife and mother. Amalia loved caring for people because caring for others brought her great joy and happiness. One of Amalia's greatest passions was cooking delicious Filipino meals for her family and friends. It brought Amalia great joy having family and friends gather, eat food, laugh, sing songs, and spend time with one another. In addition to dedicating her life to caring for her family, Amalia was also very active in the school community. She worked in education for 24 years as a general aide at Golden Oak Elementary School. Amalia took great pleasure in supporting students with their education and fostering their love of learning. Family and friends have many fond memories of Amalia: her devotion to her family, her delicious cooking, her warm smile and joyful laugh, and her caring nature. Amalia was a remarkably caring and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and educator. She was a person of great devotion and love. Above all, Amalia believed in family. She always said "Family is the most important thing in life". She once said that although she grew up poor in the Philippines, she was in many ways more fortunate in the old country because she was surrounded by many of her family and friends. Family and friends whom she dearly loved and enjoyed being with. Family was everything to Amalia. She devoted her life to caring for her family. Amalia's family will always remember her for her devotion to family and for her caring nature. Amalia passed away in Visalia, California on February 14, 2021. She is preceded in death by her father (Romeo Adlao, Sr.), her mother (Conchita Adlao), and her brothers (Romeo Adlao, Jr., Alex Adlao, and Joseph Adlao). Amalia is survived by her husband (Venancio Flisco), her children and their spouses (Beverly Flisco and Ian Conroy, Melograce Flisco and Matthew Escarsega, and Johrell Flisco), her siblings (Aurelio Adlao, Julieta Tanega, Liza Reape, Edgar Adlao, Gerry Adlao, Ronnie Adlao, Roland Adlao, and Ryan Adlao), and her many nephews and nieces. In closing, the family would like to share this poem with you: Mothers believe in us more than we believe in ourselves Do more for us than they do for themselves Worry about us more than we realize Pray for us more than we'll ever know Value us more than anything else in the world Give us more than they can afford Love us more than anyone else can And matter more than words can express It broke our hearts to lose you, But you did not go alone. A part of us went with you, the day God took you home. If tears could build a stairway, And heartaches make a lane, We'd walk our way to heaven, And bring you back again. In life we loved you dearly, In death we love you still, In our hearts you hold a place No one could ever fill. Thank you for being part of our lives, for caring for us, and for loving us. You will forever be in our hearts. Services for Amalia are as follows: Viewing will be held 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Saturday, March 20th, 2021 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E.
