She was preceded in death by her daughter, Alice Lynn Charest, sisters Linda Smith and Helen Speake, and brother Bobbie Garren. Betty always had a positive outlook and tried to find the good in everyone and everything. She and John loved to go fishing and traveling and spending time with family. Not only did they travel together, they worked together. They started and ran Grays Air Conditioning for over 15 years. Betty was a natural when it came to running a business. She helped her mother run The Dog House Cafe on Main street in Visalia, and she was a natural organizer. Betty had many talents, she was an amazing baker. Everybody loved her cakes, as she would make wedding cakes, birthday cakes and just because you asked for one cakes. She could bake just about anything, in fact her pies, cookies and cobbler were amazing too. Her other passion was gardening and she really had a green thumb. She would work in her flowers and garden for hours that was her peace she really enjoyed the outdoors. She was the center of the family. She hosted events and made sure we all got together and she always had a camera around to make sure we took a picture of the event. Most of the time we would have to hold the pose to wait for the flash or for her to get batteries and now we laugh about that and those are the best memories that she left for us. "You can shed tears that she is gone, or you can smile because she has lived," she would want you to smile.
