William John Jacobsen

William, also known as Bill, was born in San Francisco, California, to Herbert and Hazel Jacobsen on April 14, 1918. He attended Bryant Elementary, Everett Junior High School, Mission High School and San Francisco City College. Bill's first job was with Panama Lamp Company from 1936 to 1941. During the wartime years of 1941 to 1944, he did assembly work for Hammond Aircraft Company in San Bruno. Then from 1944 to 1971, in San Francisco, Bill worked for the American Can Company, where he met Ella Moser, who was also employed with American Company. Bill and Ella were married on September 7, 1946 at Saint John's Catholic Church in San Francisco. In 1971, Bill was given a promotion to Plant Manager of the American Can operations within the Lindsay Olive Production facility at Lindsay, California. Bill and Ella moved to Visalia. In 1984, Bill then retired. After Bill's retirement, he built a custom shed to hold all the necessary equipment and supplies to create and maintain their "better homes and garden" yards. We enjoyed many wonderful times together in such a beautiful setting. Bill has a son named Kenneth, who was from a previous marriage. Ella and Bill had a marriage that lasted 66 years and had two children, a daughter named Karen Miller (Jerry) and a son named Keith (Christine). There are six grandchildren: John, Krista, Ryan, Anna, Erik and Leslie. Plus five great-grandchildren: Jacob, Riley, Raissa, Thais and Alora. The most important part of Bill's life was family. During a vacation to Hawaii, he and Ella enjoyed a Mai Tai. They liked it so well that they found the recipe book and the Mai Tai became the favorite special occasion celebration drink for our family gatherings. Bill called Quail Park his home for the last two years, were he received such compassionate and loving care. A viewing will be held Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel from 5 PM to 7 PM. A funeral service will be held Friday, December 29, 2017 at Christ Lutheran Church 3830 W.
