Warren Jay Mouw

Warren "Bud" Mouw, 84, of Tulare, California, went home peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on August 14, 2026, surrounded by his family, who prayed and sang hymns by his side. Bud was born on July 28, 1942, in Hull, Iowa, the second of three children born to James and Sophia (Boer) Mouw. At 18 years old, Bud moved to California to join the United States Navy. Two years later, he met the love of his life, Joyce Solsma, in Bellflower, California. They married on August 29, 1964, and would have celebrated 62 years of marriage just two weeks after his passing. Bud and Joyce were blessed with three children while living in Southern California. After his time in the Navy, Bud began working as a carpet salesman. Through hard work, determination, and his natural entrepreneurial spirit, he worked his way up to owning the carpet store. In 1975, they moved to Visalia, where Bud began a career as an ag real estate broker. It was also during this time that they began attending Tulare Community Church, a church that would become a deeply meaningful part of their lives. In 1978, Bud and Joyce purchased their first dairy in Tulare, California, beginning a new chapter in the community they would call home for the rest of their lives. Bud was a driven and successful businessman, but his greatest accomplishments were never measured in numbers. He was a devoted husband, a great provider, an intentional father, a beloved Papa, and a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. Bud served as a deacon at Tulare Community Church and served on numerous boards within the dairy industry, as well as on the board of Western Theological Seminary. He was a trusted advisor to many and a friend to even more. Known affectionately by many as the "mayor of Tulare," there was hardly a room Bud could walk into where he wasn't known. His friendships stretched across generations, and he became a stand-in dad and Papa to countless people who were fortunate enough to know him. Bud loved large and laughed louder. He had a mischievous smile, a twinkle in his eye, a quick wit, a brilliant mind, a generous spirit, and an unmatched ability to tell a joke. He had a way of making people feel important, valued, and loved. He was the kind of person people sought out for advice, looked forward to seeing, and never forgot. But above all else, Bud loved his family. They brought him his greatest joy, and his legacy will live on through the generations he loved so deeply. Bud is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce Mouw; his children, Lance (Jamie) Mouw, Chad Mouw, and Allison (Brodie) McClain; his grandchildren, Colby (Jake) Johnson, Mitchel (Elliana) Mouw, Payton (Jackson) Richmond, Kennedy McClain, Tanner McClain, Canon McClain, and Cash McClain; and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Daryl Mouw and Judy Van Helden. Bud lived a life marked by faith, family, friendship, hard work, generosity, and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of others. He leaves behind a family and community who will miss his laughter, his wisdom, his stories, and the joy he brought wherever he went. He is home now, with Jesus, and we are grateful for the 84 years we were blessed to call him husband, Dad, Papa, brother, friend, and Bud. Visitation will be held 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM Sunday, August 30th, 2026 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM Monday, August 31st, 2026 at Tulare Community Church, 1820 North Gem St., Tulare. A luncheon will immediately follow at Visalia Country Club.
