Virginia Ongjoco

On Saturday morning, January 16, 2021, Dr. Virginia Ongjoco, a devoted wife and mother peacefully passed away at the age of 64. Virginia was born on April 11, 1956 to Adelina and Apolonio Serafico. She received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of the East and practiced Dentistry for 35 years before she retired in 2015 to be with her husband and family in California. On June 28, 1993 she married her best friend Jose Enrique Ayala Ongjoco. They were blessed with two daughters Ana Beatrice and Sofia Isabel. Virginia lived her life centered on God's divine promise. She was very compassionate, kind and positively impacted the lives of everyone she knew. Virginia loved going on road trips, going to the beach and visiting different churches with her family and friends. She was fond of eating out and discovering new restaurants, sewing, gardening and doing Tai Chi. Virginia's undying resilience and faith to God throughout her life is a living reflection of who she was, a loving and understanding wife and mother, a generous and forgiving daughter and sister, a trustworthy and caring friend and a compassionate Doctor to her patients. She was blessed to have such a loving, nurturing and pure heart as how she will always be remembered by her friends and family. Virginia remained true to God's word despite her hard battle with cancer. She never complained but kept her eyes on the Lord until her last breath, a resilient and inspirational warrior of God. Virginia was preceded in death by her father, Apolonio and sister Maria Louisa. She is survived by her husband Jose Enrique their two children Ana Beatrice and Sofia Isabel, mother Adelina and brothers Bonifacio, Albert and Orlando with several cousins, nieces and nephew. Honoring her wishes her remains will be cremated on January 27, 2021 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel in Visalia California. As she requested before she died, no viewing will be held but she wished to be remembered and honored through prayer and mass intentions for the repose of her soul. A celebration of life will be scheduled for Virginia in the foreseeable future to be announced by the family. The family would like to thank AIS Cancer Center especially Dr. Salas, Dr. Mariscal, Nurse Kendra McQueen and Nurse Lynn, Bakersfield Hematology Oncology Dr. Ciarolla and Nurse Renee Lee, Adventist Health Bakersfield Dr. Vaghasia and Dr. Goyle, and Adventist Health Hospice for the compassion, kindness and tireless efforts they give to all patients and their families.
