Vera Jean Gould

Vera Jean Gould, born August 29, 1927 in Hanford, Ca to Perry & Beatrice Griswold, passed away peacefully in her sleep the afternoon of Saturday, February 18th, 2023. She was 95 years young. She attended elementary school in Armona, CA. Her family moved to Northern California Bay area where she graduated from San Jose High School in 1945. Shortly after high school, she went to work in a local bank in Salinas as a teller and later worked for Monterey County as a bookkeeper. She married her first love, Robert Thomas(Tom) Adcock on June 1st, 1947. They shared 16 years and 2 children together, Robert Thomas Adcock II & Brenda Adcock Graves. Vera and Tom made the decision for her to become a stay-at-home mom but she & Tom remained actively involved in the Salinas Community. After their divorce, she met Hector (Babe) Siler. December 18th, 1964, she & Babe married and continued in community activities. They also shared a love for square dancing together. She truly enjoyed being a step-mom to Babe's 3 sons. After Babe's passing, she met & married Phil Gould. They moved from their home in Salinas to live the beach life in Cayucos, CA. They both found great enjoyment being involved in their new community including the Cayucos Community Church. In 1998, Vera joined the Cayucos Women's Club where she became Club Treasurer and made several lifelong friends. One of which she shared extensive travels with. Between her & Sherry's road trips and Cruises, they developed a close bond. Vera & Phil also served as Docents at Hearst Castle. Oh, how she loved dressing up in the vintage clothes. They also drove their Vintage T-Bird in several Fourth of July Parade's where they were honored as Grand Marshals. Vera loved her garden and grew amazing lemons and avocados she proudly shared with her friends and her favorite local restaurants. She also found enjoyment in her wide collection of dolls. She especially loved her many Shirley Temple Dolls. She decided to move to Valley Heights Semi Independent Living to be near her two sisters, Dorothy & Carroll in Watsonville, CA. She spent 2-3 years there. She began her decline there, so she was transported to Visalia, CA by All Family Transport to TLC Assisted Living for Seniors September 2020. She received outstanding love and care from the owners and Medical Staff. We can't thank them enough. As well as Bristol Hospice being there for her for over a year. To all medical personnel we Thank you. Vera is predeceased by her second sister, Carroll Smith and her infant daughter, Marcia Adcock, her 2nd daughter, Brenda Graves, and granddaughter, Katy Graves. She is survived by her oldest sister, Dorothy Lennon (age 101), Son, Bob Adcock, 4 grandchildren, Jason Adcock (Ashley), Tyler Graves (Brittany), Dee Graves, Lisa Siler-Fleming. Also, 6 great-grandchildren, Shalouise Graves, Evangeline Graves, Branson W. Adcock, Zoe & Phoebe Graves, and Dylan Fleming. one niece, & three nephews as well as her extended family. She was loved and respected by her family, her Community friends, her Church family and her caregivers. She will be missed by all who knew her. Her family will host a Celebration of Life at: Cayucos Community Church, 60 S. 3rd Street, Cayucos, CA 93430 March 25, 2023 at 11:00am.
