Takvor George Takvorian

On June 19, 2025, Takvor Takvorian passed away at the age of 91 in Escondido, CA, from lung cancer and other health conditions. Takvor, known as Tak by family and friends, was born on July 1, 1933, in Bulgaria to Agop & Hiripsime Takvorian. When Tak was one year old, they immigrated to the USA and lived in the Bronx borough of New York City. After Agop passed away (when Tak was 12), Tak and his mother moved first to Fresno then Dinuba, when his mother remarried. Tak graduated from Dinuba High in 1951 and was later drafted into the Army. After serving during the Korean War, he returned to California and attended the College of the Sequoias, where he met Bonnie Yocham. They married in 1956. After earning his teaching degree from Fresno State University, Tak worked for most of 33 years as a science teacher at Sierra Junior High in Bakersfield, CA. He supplemented his income by teaching night school civics classes to immigrants and through summer jobs with Kern County Grape Inspection and at Mosesian Grape Ranch in Lamont, CA. As a member of the AFL-CIO Teachers Union, Tak also represented teachers in administrative disputes. Tak leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Bonnie Takvorian, his sons Kirk Takvorian & Terry Takvorian, his daughter-in-law Mary Williams, his cousin Krikor Dolmian, Krikor's wife Yolanda, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother as well as his stepfather Krikor Khachigian and his second stepfather Tommy Keyishian. Tak was an avid golfer and gardener for many years, and he enjoyed cruises and international travel with friends and family. He also loved entertaining and was a hospitable host, especially when he and Bonnie invited friends and family into their home for holiday feasts and parties. Tak will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his lively storytelling, and his sense of humor. Viewing will be held 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Sunday, July 20th, 2025 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel, 127 E. Caldwell Ave., Visalia. Funeral services will be held 9:30 AM Monday, July 21st, 2025 at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, July 21st, 2025 at Visalia District Cemetery, 1300 W Goshen Ave, Visalia. Services have been entrusted to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.
