Susan Jane Williams

Susan Jane Williams died in Peace at Linwood Group Home in Visalia April 12, 2023. Susie, as she was known by her friends, was born in Merced to Carvel & Frances Williams. She attended schools in Merced, graduating from Merced High School in 1963. She moved to Good Shepard Lutheran Home of the West, in Terra Bella in the mid 60's, where she made lifelong friendships. Susie was active as an advocate for special needs people. She was President of the local chapter of People First as well as a participant in the Special Olympics. Susie moved to Visalia and spent her later years at Linwood Group Home, living life to the fullest. Susie took part in many day programs throughout her life, but it was at The Creative Center is where she shined. Susie loved music. She started with Elvis & the Merced High Marching 100. She then developed a love for the Beatles. The last years of her life she became fascinated with Glen Campbell. She would watch his DVD's over and over again. She even went as far as only wearing T-shirts that represented Glen Campbell. Her favorite city was Merced. The Merced Courthouse Museum and the Yosemite Valley Railroad were her top interests. Susie possessed a great memory for history. San Francisco was also a favorite spot, spending family vacations and attending many SF Giants games. Susie is survived by her brother Carvel O. Williams Jr. of Forestville, Ca. She also leaves behind a niece, nephew, grandnephew, grandniece and two great grandnieces. Susie loved her Mariposa family and her surviving cousins Gary, Trent, Bill Williams and Steve Cademartori. A special thanks to Louise, Letty and Peggy and all the staff and housemates at the Linwood home for helping Susie live her life to the fullest. A memorial service is planned for May 12th at 10:00 am at The Creative Center 606 N. Bridge Street, Visalia, Ca. Funeral arrangements are handled by Salser and Dillard of Visalia. She will be laid to rest in Merced next to her mother and father. Services have been entrusted to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.
