Stephen Frank Vigil

Stephen Frank Vigil was born on October 12, 1979, in Upland, California, and passed away on March 17, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Though his life was far too brief, it was filled with purpose, love, and meaningful connections that touched everyone who knew him. Stephen spent part of his youth in California, where he attended Golden West High School, before moving to Crystal Lake, Illinois, where he graduated from Crystal Lake High School. Stephen embraced life with enthusiasm and passion. His warm spirit, infectious laughter, and genuine kindness shone through every interaction. He had a rare gift for creating meaningful bonds. Stephen dedicated 19 years of his career to Southern California Gas Company, where he was known as a hardworking and dependable employee, a respected crew leader, and a true friend to his coworkers. He was often the first to volunteer for overtime and weekend shifts, took pride in honest, hands-on work, and knew his way around a shovel as well as anyone. An expert welder, he brought skill, care, and commitment to everything he did. Above all, Stephen's greatest pride and joy was his children. He loved them deeply and unconditionally, and nothing meant more to him than being their father and supporting them in all they did. Stephen had a lifelong passion for sports, especially soccer. Whether he was playing, coaching, or refereeing, the game was a central part of his life-one he shared generously and enthusiastically with others. He was a devoted fan of FC Barcelona and Chelsea Football Club, and a proud supporter of the Philadelphia Eagles. Beyond sports, Stephen had a deep love for animals, with a special fondness for fish, dogs, and cats. Those who knew Stephen will remember his quick wit, strong work ethic, and the deep respect he earned from those around him. He was highly skilled in his work and approached life with energy and determination, "no" was rarely part of his vocabulary. Generous to a fault, he would give his last dollar or the shirt off his back to help someone in need. His infectious laugh brought joy to many, and his unmistakable "evil eye" was as memorable as it was expressive. Stephen is lovingly survived by his children, Caitlyn Bellaire (spouse Mikey), Dominick Vigil, Desiree Vigil, and Julian Vigil (spouse Brielle) and his grandchildren, Onyx and Oakley. He is also survived by his father, Frank Vigil (stepmother Judy); his mother, Marina Barra. He is further survived by his sister, Nikki Frankino (spouse Joey), his brothers, Vince Vigil (spouse Jayne) and Jimmie Vigil; his honor sisters, Evelyn and Miranda; stepbrother, Josh, as well as his nephews: Joey and Nico. Stephen was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Jimmie Magallanez, and his grandmother, Erlinda Magallanez; and his paternal grandfather, Leo Vigil, and his grandmother, Lucy Vigil. Stephen will always be remembered for his humor, loyalty, and his unwavering belief in living life to the fullest. A celebration of Stephen's life will be held on Saturday, April 25th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Salser and Dillard in Visalia, California. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Valley Oak SPCA (vospca.org) in Stephen's honor. Services have been entrusted to Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.
