Shirley Carolyn Vasquez

On November 28, 2018, Shirley Lujan Vasquez passed away peacefully with her loving family and her Lord by her side. She was born to Johnnie and Antonia Lujan of Visalia California on January 29, 1936. Shirley was a wonderful daughter who cared deeply about her parents Shirley attended Visalia Public Schools; Carrie Barnett, Webster, Sierra Vista, Redwood and graduated in the class of 1953 from Mount Whitney High School. Early in her working years she was an employee of Bank of America in Visalia where she greeted many with her refreshing smile. After 35 years of clerical work, and medical transcription in the Visalia area, she did enjoy time with friends while visiting the local gaming casinos. She was the keystone at all family festivities and holidays, as she continued to share her deep devotion, love and affection as a beautiful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to all who graced her presence. She was predeceased by the love of her life, husband Rudy Vasquez, father Johnnie Lujan, mother Antonia Lujan Waheed, sister Esther Lujan Akana, and brother-in-law Gene Fesperman. Shirley leaves her three loving sons, Rudy Vasquez Jr. (Mary) of Exeter, Michael A. Vasquez of Visalia, and Lawrence "Larry" Vasquez (Devin Steiger) of Portland Oregon. She was a loving grandmother who leaves a granddaughter Melissa Vasquez Bell (Brent) of Exeter, grandsons, Michael D. Vasquez (Rachel) of Whittier Ca. and Jason M. Vasquez (Erica) of Visalia. They all will remember their mother and grandmother as devoted, loving and compassionate about their wellbeing and future. She always considered herself wonderfully blessed to have had such a fantastic time as a grandmother to her eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She leaves two sisters, Alice Fesperman of Woodlake, Laurie Barkley (Jerry) of Visalia and one brother John Lujan of Las Vegas, NV. She demonstrated and shared her deep love for God, through her quiet nature, and unquestionable character, that all who knew her adored, respected and appreciated. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers you may contribute a donation to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
