Sandra Louise Nixon

Sandra Louise Nixon passed away on February 12, 2026, at the age of 82. Sandra was many things to many people. She was a loyal wife and friend, a trusted confidant, a devoted sister, a loving aunt, an unmatched problem solver, and at times, a sarcastic pain in the ass. But most importantly, she was Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma. She was knowledgeable, hardworking, essential in every space she occupied, and unapologetically set in her ways. She would have been the first to tell you exactly how she felt. But to her family, she was the rock. She was the steady presence you turned to when life did not make sense. If life threw you a problem, she was the one you called to help you think it through, break it down, and find a solution. Whether you wanted the lesson or not, she taught it. She believed in resilience, strength, and facing reality head on, often summed up in her favorite saying, "Life's a bitch and then you die." It was blunt, honest, and perfectly her. She met the love of her life and husband of many years, Curtis Ray Nixon, while "draggin Main Street," proving that sometimes the best things in life really do happen when you are just cruising along. Their love grew into a lifelong partnership filled with laughter, stubborn debates, shared strength, and unwavering loyalty. Their love story was real, lasting, and uniquely theirs, the kind many people hope to find and hold onto for a lifetime. She had a way of leaving lasting impressions. Most of her immediate family still have random nursery rhymes living in their heads because of her. She believed deeply in family and instilled strong values in each of her children and grandchildren. Loyalty, independence, humor, and grit were qualities she modeled every day. Sandra began her career with Farm Bureau in 1962 and dedicated more than 50 years of loyal service to the organization, working diligently until December 2025 when she was forced to leave. Her work ethic was unwavering, and her commitment to doing things the right way never changed. In 2024, she was honored with the Helen Roberti Lifetime Service Award in recognition of her decades of dedication and impact. She believed deeply in valuing members and volunteers and understood the strength of community. She often expressed that each generation brings something unique to the table: the wisdom of the older generation, the enthusiasm of youth, and the balance provided by those in between who bridge the gap and bring it all together. She believed this harmony is what makes the agricultural community strong, resilient, and forward looking. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Nixon; her parents, Sanford and Velma Tait; and her siblings, Kathleen, Judy, and Bobby. She is survived by her daughter Barbara Nixon; her daughter Brenda Soldani and husband John Soldani; and her daughter Bridget Nixon. She was a proud grandmother to Daniel Nunez, Donovan Nunez, Domonic Nixon, Josh Nixon and his wife KatieAnn Nixon and Chelsey Dias and her husband Elliot Dias. She was also blessed with five great grandchildren, Blake and Teagan Nixon; Emma, Aubree and Eli Dias. Her absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but her lessons, her sayings, her sarcasm, and her love will live on in the lives she shaped. She was one of a kind, and she will be deeply missed. As per Sandra's wishes, there will not be a graveside service. Instead, family and friends are invited to celebrate her life on March 20th from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Salser & Dillard Event Center.
